Ricochet Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 my bridge doesn't have enough travel to intonate certain strings.any replacement bridges to solve this? thanks Did you try to reverse the saddles yet?
TWANG Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 yep. you can reverse saddles.. usually the low three.. although only the E and A are typically the problem, people do all three for a balanced look. Your action might be a tick high, too, and that makes a difference. There's also a bridge that has longer string travel which fits epis. TWANG
valriver40 Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 i had the same problem. i bought the nashville bridge which already has the reverse saddles. problem solved for me.
TWANG Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 There's a really nice roller bridge.. with wider spacing for intonation.. I just sold my last one to another guy. that would get rid of one problem people find sometimes with reversing saddles.. the wound strings dont get hung up on the sharp edge of the backward saddle.. they angle them for a reason! But just be careful and gentle. I once tried to reverse three saddles, but I wasn't careful and wound up breaking the tab on the screw in one saddle. So I got a nice roller bridge from GFS that had wider adjustment range as TWANG mentioned, and it worked out in the end...
epidermal Posted March 5, 2009 Author Posted March 5, 2009 thanks to everyone. i tried to reverse the saddles. it didn't work. what bridge from gfs is the wider one? i'll try it. thanks
Ron G Posted March 5, 2009 Posted March 5, 2009 It is possible that the bridge/neck set is off by a fraction. If so and the guitar is under warranty, Gibson will take care of it.
