Lord Summerisle Posted March 6, 2009 Posted March 6, 2009 Would prefer black speed knobs myself, but it's your guitar...(!)
midiman56 Posted March 6, 2009 Posted March 6, 2009 Nah ... this looks great with all of that gold hardware! Nice job, rj ... by the way, how many polishing cloths have you gone through already? MIDI
TomLeech Posted March 6, 2009 Posted March 6, 2009 i dont like the stock knobs that come with it but the vintage knobs either
rjbee Posted March 6, 2009 Author Posted March 6, 2009 Have only had the guitar for a couple of weeks so still the same cloth . I'm trying to keep the gold finish on pickups and hardware from rubbing off by keeping it clean after each use. Any advice??
midiman56 Posted March 6, 2009 Posted March 6, 2009 Just to keep doing what you're doing ... that and pray that your body chemistry is not overly acidic. I've heard some folks talk about the gold wearing off in almost no time at all. I've personally had very good luck with Epi "gold" ... and every one of my Epi guitars has the gold hardware. It just worked out that way. Anyway, I was actually referring to the ebony body when I was asking about cleaning cloths. I have the BB King Lucille and that sucker is a fingerprint magnet! Again ... great looking guitar. Have fun putting it through its paces! MIDI
Dr. Rock Posted March 6, 2009 Posted March 6, 2009 Anyway' date=' I was actually referring to the ebony body when I was asking about cleaning cloths. I have the BB King Lucille and that sucker is a fingerprint magnet![/quote'] I use Fender "Mist and Wipe" polish through and through. It made the vernish not sticky and fingerprint is a thing of the past.
JefferySmith Posted March 6, 2009 Posted March 6, 2009 I couldn't resist' date=' vintage knobs for my Custom! [img']http://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j80/rjbee/DSC01217.jpg[/img] Woo hoo! I love that shiny tarry look!
midiman56 Posted March 6, 2009 Posted March 6, 2009 Hear, hear! In rjbee's picture, that guitar looks almost "liquid"! MIDI
