paradeofstorms Posted March 8, 2009 Posted March 8, 2009 First off, I've already tried the online serial number tracker. It claims this was made in Korea, in 1991. So that's wrong, because clearly it was made in Japan, and looks a bit older than the 90's. Secondly, I know that between 1970 and 1980 they were made in Japan, but there are apparently no records of the serial numbers. Which leaves me to assume that when started using serial numbers again, they were previously stamped on other guitars. Can anyone help me?
animalfarm Posted March 8, 2009 Posted March 8, 2009 My research says it's an Epiphone Crestwood, 1970s. Not sure of year yet, Currently reading an on-line article (http://theonesthatgotaway.blogspot.com/2008/04/epiphone-crestwood-et-275.html) from april 2008, says similar one sold on ebay $365.00. Or, just google "epiphone crestwood et-275", read stuff at your discretion.
duane v Posted March 8, 2009 Posted March 8, 2009 It's a ET-290 Crestwood, Wilshire, Coronet or whatever the hell you want to call it. They were made from 71 to 76.... They were made in Japan, and I've seen them sell as high as $500-$600, but those were in excellent condition. The one you have could pull in $400- $500.
paradeofstorms Posted March 8, 2009 Author Posted March 8, 2009 Thanks. I thought it would be around 1976 or 1977, and I know that they're not highly sought after.
duane v Posted March 8, 2009 Posted March 8, 2009 Actually you'll be surprised how many people want these guitars. They're surprisingly heavy, and they sound very good. Only thing bad about them is the tiny frets. I personally enjoy my 71 ET-275 Crestwood, especially after having bigger frets installed.
midiman56 Posted March 8, 2009 Posted March 8, 2009 Why is it that the one pictured here looks really HOT to me while the new one Epi is releasing make me wanna barf? Is it just the color on this one that's doing it for me? Hmmmm ... very strange! Jim
Stig Posted March 9, 2009 Posted March 9, 2009 That screw plate for the bolt-on neck looks really familiar. I'm guessing that a LOT of other brands rolled out of that same factory. I think I saw a Univox with that same neck plate recently.
frenchie1281734003 Posted March 9, 2009 Posted March 9, 2009 It`s an ET-290 in Cherry Sunburst finish, made by Matsumoku in Japan, and according to the serial number made in January 1981!! If so, it is a very late one, as I hought these disappeared around 79/80.
paradeofstorms Posted March 9, 2009 Author Posted March 9, 2009 Sorry Frenchie, you got that wrong. As I stated above, I used the online serial calculator, and it told me Jan. of 81 too. But as I've stated, that was for Korean made epi's, this is a Japanese made epi, from the era that they stopped documenting serial numbers. I have already had it dated, and priced. <img src="http://theonesthatgotaway.blogspot.com/2008/04/epiphone-crestwood-et-275.html">
