do Les Paul PG's fit on a dot studio?

Posted

There's no reason you can't get one that does.

I build pickguards and often epi players choose gibson styles for their guitars.

it's just a question of the pickup spacing, the bracket length, and the neck screw hole placement.

So, to choose a stock gibby guard would have likely problems.

You can get one made if you like that look!

somewhere.. *S*

okey dokey.

I've got a dot studio here... and an epi lp which has a gibson guard on it..

So I can check the fit.. should have thought of that!

I thought Gibson guards wouldn't fit epi Pauls? Did you have to modify it?

Oh, and when I said G310, I meant the cheaper bolt on epi SG model that comes with no pickguard, it might be a different model number. Just to clarify.

Epis sometimes don't match up perfectly even on the same model..

screw hole at the neck can vary, for instance.

and now and then the pickups aren't spaced exactly the same.

gibson uses different sized mounting rings.. so that depth and width can be different.

Gibsons, 335s, have the switch in a slightly more rearward position.. so a long 335 guard on an epi requires shaping so the switch isn't too close to the guard.

And other stuff.

I work off a trace.. and/or measurements.. it's the only way to be sure.

the gibson lp guard on my epi lp fit fine.. just a tick loose for my taste.. but ok!
