EpiSheriMan Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 I've uploaded the old 2003 Elite Catalog to my server if any one is interested in checking it out....It's an interesting read as it describes the specs of the Elite range. Here Looking at the Gibson Japan website, looks like they are not making any Elite or Elitist Acoustics anymore, just master built and McCartney 64 Texan... Here On a separate point,...I thought they had dropped the Elitist Sheraton in 2007???? They don't half make things confusing.....
Ricochet Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 On a separate point' date='...I thought they had dropped the Elitist Sheraton in 2007???? They don't half make things confusing..... [/quote'] What is confusing about it? They dropped the entire Elitist-line except the Casino.
EpiSheriMan Posted March 13, 2009 Author Posted March 13, 2009 What is confusing about it? They dropped the entire Elitist-line except the Casino. If you would have bothered to read my entire post' date='...and taken the time to visit the the Gibson website link,...you would have seen that the Sheraton is still available. Now what's [b']NOT[/b] confusing about that?

EpiSheriMan Posted March 13, 2009 Author Posted March 13, 2009 All I see is a website which needs updating. Thanks for your insight,..."O wise one"...that really clears up all the confusion! You in PR?
Ricochet Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 Thanks for your insight' date='..."O wise one"...that really clears up all the confusion! [/quote'] Clearly not wise enough... I wrongly assumed it was common knowledge Epiphone dropped the Elitist line.
EpiSheriMan Posted March 13, 2009 Author Posted March 13, 2009 Clearly not wise enough... I wrongly assumed it was common knowledge Epiphone dropped the Elitist line. So did most people' date='..... so it is slightly [b']CONFUSING[/b] to see the Sheraton, Riviera Elitists etc. listed as available on the current Gibson Company Japan website....
EpiSheriMan Posted March 13, 2009 Author Posted March 13, 2009 All I see is a website which needs updating. Ricochet,...you honestly think its normal for a Company with +$500 million in annual sales to just not update there websites and leave up incorrect and misleading information on their products??? A website which is without doubt one of a guitar companies main Product line presentation platforms for selling??????
Ricochet Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 Gibson Japan has never been a Gibson USA mirror site, running in sync with it's official US-counterpart. Partly because of the models exclusive to Japan. Mainly because I think it's more of a translation-service to Japanese customers... and as such it has never been very current or up to date much.

mgrmatt Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 It's like Gibson tries to regionalize the product lines, there is a basic core of products available everywhere then there is a few Japan only or US only or even Euro only products that aren't allowed to be sold in other markets. mgm

In my opinion, Gibson's marketing is 100% wrong on this. Both Gibson & Epiphone are Global brands with strong USP's and that all important "Brand heritage" that other brands would kill for! Each brand should have one unique global Marketing Strategy. Making different models for different markets only dillutes the brand image and credibility.
mgrmatt Posted March 13, 2009 Posted March 13, 2009 Unfortunately for the US market (atleast where my taste are concerned) it seems as though all of the new models are geared twords the shredder crowd, I'm not knocking them it just doesn't suit my needs or taste. mgm

They risk loosing the important heritage in doing so...
