TWANG Posted March 14, 2009 Posted March 14, 2009 and a close up Two extra vol and tone.. plus a series/parallel switch. And acoustic guitar shaped switch cover.. I didn't have the patience to do a335 shape. TWANG
Thermionik Posted March 14, 2009 Posted March 14, 2009 How does the series / parallel switch sound. Oh - and the switch disk shaped like an acoustic is eugh (personal taste - if it works for you, go for it man). And please can we have some in focus pictures - these were not up to your usual high standard. Made my head swim trying to focus 'till I realised it wasn't me. And here's a thing..... how come the Bronte formerly known as Nelson hasn't swung by with a bucket of vitriol. Usually by now he'd have been here bad-mouthing your every move..... did I miss something?
TWANG Posted March 14, 2009 Author Posted March 14, 2009 Yep.. I like it. *G* a little corny but there you go.. yeah my pics suck a lot sometimes. esp. hold guitar with one hand camera with other.. foggy day in minnesota, no light! the p90s sound midrangy emphasis.. doesn't work, for example, scrolling through the pod for many settings.. but now and then you hit something really great.. so it's just a question of use.. not gonna be a main tone like. bridge full out-which I like.. but a handy one. gives solos a little something.. works neat with modulation, esp. chorus.. and certain distortions.. like recitified set hot.. pretty ballsy stuff going on! I don't know the answer to your other question. I'm just glad I don't have to get called names and be told I'm wasting my time. guitar sounds great.. actually taking some guitar time out today for me! TWANG
charlie brown Posted March 14, 2009 Posted March 14, 2009 Twang...the shots with "Chrome" in them are (obviously) out of focus, and I suspect the brightness of the chrome maybe be playing havoc, with your auto focus system. Just a friendly suggestion, if you don't mind?... Try focusing on the body, hold the button down, to lock focus, then recompose (being careful not to move closer or futher away, in the process). I think your photos will be a lot sharper, then? Again... just an idea/suggestion. Feel free to heed or not. ;>) By the way, the projects coming along, nicely! Good work! CB
TWANG Posted March 14, 2009 Author Posted March 14, 2009 Thanks Charlie.. I'll pay more attention when I get it all assembled.. assuming I ever do! My camera doesn't work that way.. that I know of.. but it's largely sunlight and background on the chrome that's messing me up. not enough sun and lousy posing. I'll do better. TWANG
Bender 4 Life Posted March 15, 2009 Posted March 15, 2009 Looks ROCKIN' so far Twang...........are those "Phat Cats"?
matiac Posted March 15, 2009 Posted March 15, 2009 Hey TWANG, in the eloquent way Freddy Prinze said it on "Chico And The Man"..."LOOOKING GOOOOOOOD!". I like the understated elegance of the matte finish against the bling of everything else you've done I've been kind of following what you've done so far, and I must say, well done!
TWANG Posted March 15, 2009 Author Posted March 15, 2009 It's a hot p90 from kent armstrong at the neck. and a mean 90 from GFS at the bridge... big fat at the neck.. and plenty of bite at the bridge.. really a nice sound from both, too. thanks you guys.. I tired a little gloss on the binding.. but I took it off. I may still gloss the headstock.. but .. I'm kinda doubtful. It starts to get too glitzy against the finish.. while the chrome seems to just contrast well. I'm gonna keep tweaking.. *s* TWANG
duane v Posted March 15, 2009 Posted March 15, 2009 I'm a sucker for a red head=p~ TWANG, would you mind mocking up a black pick-guard for me, just for visual sakes??? thanx
Guest icantbuyafender Posted March 15, 2009 Posted March 15, 2009 oh gosh, that pickguard... did you make it? im looking for a tortoise or matte black for my brown dot studio any ideas? (like do 335 pickguards fit or sheraton/casino pickguard or even a les paul pg?)
TWANG Posted March 15, 2009 Author Posted March 15, 2009 duane I've got a black short 335 style here. .. two in fact.. one three ply and one five ply. I'll post pics of them.. I assume you want to see it on the dot. icant. yeah I made it. I make them all the time. just finished a set of lp backplates in black and a MIM fender esquire in parchment pearl. boy that stuff is pretty! The esquire guy has a tort sheri coming, but I was out of tort so. next week. 335 guards premade probably wont fit.. same with les paul.. they use different size mounting rings.. the brackets for an lp fit dots and sheratons..probably casinos, too. screw holes, neck position, are typically off, too. I've got a new piece of gloss brown that would make a great gaurd for a worn brown finish. using part of it for a tele build. TWANG
Guest icantbuyafender Posted March 15, 2009 Posted March 15, 2009 put me down for a 3 ply or 5 ply black one thatll fit the dot, (whichever duane doesn't want lol) and to humor your opinion, can you post a pick of the brown gloss material?
TWANG Posted March 15, 2009 Author Posted March 15, 2009 I tried to get a pic of the brown material.. but it just comes out black.. I'll have to do it outside. inside it just wont show.. It's cool, I just haven't gotten a decent pic of it yet. Here's a long style 335 guard. and a shorter style that's unfinished so ti doesn't fit anything yet.
Guest icantbuyafender Posted March 15, 2009 Posted March 15, 2009 i was set on black already, so PM me to talk some turkey friend!!!
TWANG Posted March 15, 2009 Author Posted March 15, 2009 Now I'm thinking about adding a middle p90. *L* TWANG
Guest icantbuyafender Posted March 15, 2009 Posted March 15, 2009 how you managed to do wiring on a guitar with no back cavity plate is rediculous! how do you get in there to do the extra knob wiring????
TWANG Posted March 16, 2009 Author Posted March 16, 2009 see other post. Guess I should have taken pics and made a tutorial on this.. but I didn't think of it. TWANG
dcooper830 Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 AWESOME mods!!!!!!!!! Crappiest pics EVER!! 1. Put your camera on a tri-pod. 2. Turn OFF the flash and experiment with longer exposure times. 3. Use the timer function so as not to shake the camera slightly when pressing the shutter button. You don't need sunlight....... you can take awesome photos this way with room light.
floydpink7 Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 I like the other dark brown pickguard better IMHO, but that's just me...
TWANG Posted March 16, 2009 Author Posted March 16, 2009 you guys are gonna have to get used to my tiny little cheapo dxg camera and my tiny little crappy cheapo camera skills. tridpod. har! I'm gonna do some sunlight now that I can take it outside though.. so I hope you'll be happy. *G* TWANG
