EpiSheriMan Posted March 15, 2009 Posted March 15, 2009 ...well I just got my Sheraton back. Wohoooooooo! Overall I am happy,...all except for the quality of the hinge. I would have expected the B7 to be perfect compared to cheaper licensed B70. She plays well and stays in tune pretty well as long as you don't dive bomb which is OK because I'm no Ed Van Halen....My tech advised me to use Big Bends Nut sauce on the bridge saddles which will help.... Wanted to ask you guys which of three options ya'll prefer..... 1. "Custom Made" Plate 2. Tail Studs.... 3. Butt naaaked Hmmmmmmmmm........
JohnMcClane5000 Posted March 15, 2009 Posted March 15, 2009 If you want the "Back To The Future" Michael J. Fox with his Gibby-look, then leave the tail studs in... I would prefer the Custom Made plate... Looks better JM
EpiSheriMan Posted March 15, 2009 Author Posted March 15, 2009 would prefer the Custom Made plate... Looks better JM Hey John,...I'm kinda leaning that way to. The only thing is,..it's an awful lot of letters and words for any guitar with "Epiphone" on headstock, "Epiphone Elitist" on back of headstock", "Elitist" on truss rod cover, "Cusom Made" plate and "Bigsby" on the trem! Most guitars only have one word - the brand name on headstock! ,...mine is looking like an Billboard Advertisement!! I think it's either option 1. or 2. The Butt Naked option just looks like the guitar is missing something....

The Butt Naked option just looks like the guitar is missing something.... [/quote'] I know what you mean, haha... Ohh well I've seen examples where people put two round little black plastic thingys on the wholes... that's a good solution, but I dunno where you can find these black thingys JM

Check it out here M J Fox Gibson ES 345 Some guy actually bought it...Maybe it was Noel!!!!
JohnMcClane5000 Posted March 15, 2009 Posted March 15, 2009 The Back to the Future guitar is alot "redder" than the one on the pics... it's rather candy apple red than wine red... It's also funny that some don't seem to have no woodgrain showing at all and others do... JM

Joseph Salina Posted March 15, 2009 Posted March 15, 2009 Wanted to ask you guys which of three options ya'll prefer..... 2. Tail Studs
mgrmatt Posted March 15, 2009 Posted March 15, 2009 Just my opinion but I think the tail studs tend to just blend in better and look fine. To me the custom made plate draws more attention to it. mgm
JohnMcClane5000 Posted March 15, 2009 Posted March 15, 2009 All in all mate... great job! Your guitar looks a bit more Rockabilly now which is superb! Can't wait to show y'all my Bigsbyd Casino soon!!! YAY!! JM
EpiSheriMan Posted March 16, 2009 Author Posted March 16, 2009 Scores: Studs - 4 Custom Made - 2 Naked - 0 Any body else??? Hmmmmmmm, it sure would be nice to have a poll option on the forum!!! Mods, can you help????
chewy1281734128 Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 keep the tail studs in, or leave the holes looks good either way though
Thermionik Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 At the moment, I would/will go studs for my Sherry when I fit a Bigsby - TWANG was talking about MoP tops for them which could look nicer..... but I keep wondering about a more shaped, stylish plate than the plain custom one, and without the words - in just plain tortie, or maybe an echo of the headstock MoP vine. But for now, my humble vote is studs too.
IntelligentAl Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 Maybe it's just me, but I like it with the holes showing! Either way looks cool, though...
floydpink7 Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 The studs look cool, the plaque is nice but it's a little too tacky for a guitar of this magnificance!! My vote is for studs. (I would have set up a poll...)
EpiSheriMan Posted March 16, 2009 Author Posted March 16, 2009 My vote is for studs. (I would have set up a poll...) Floyd,..wanted to but couldn't find the option.....
PJPJ Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 Tail studs. Bling without indignity (sounds like a political slogan).
sledge57 Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 The studs look cool' date=' the plaque is nice but it's a little too tacky for a guitar of this magnificance!! My vote is for studs. (I would have set up a poll...)[/quote'] I agree about the plaque, maybe if it was a nice piece of wood, engraved and finished nice
eor Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 my one biggest question goes unanswered- does the pickguard interfere with the bigsby? i tried a 60s broadway in a store and the damn pickguard was in the way. you had to use the arm at an awkward, low angle to go all the way down. i feared this might be true for my sheraton, but i guess you can't answer that. i think i read that you swapped the pups out, too. can you elaborate a litte? what's in them? i've considered this mod, but there aren't a lot of options out there. as for your poll, i'm kinda leaning holes, then plaque, then studs, but truly prefer neither. do they make custom plaques that say whatever you want? i neat solution i saw on some board (gretsch, maybe) was a guy made a "tension bar" somehow where the old bridge went, and (obviously) used the bigsby that didn't have the bar. looked ok-ish, but i don't know if it affected anything with the bar in that spot. at any rate, it looks pretty cool. keep us posted if you go with another bridge. so many options out there...
