how to put a humbucker on a Banjo?

We did this years ago using a no pole flat topped humbucker..

just mounted it inside the head.. by the neck. with duck tape.

worked fine..

loud as hell.. still sounded very banjoey.

It was an acoustic sound hole pickup.. forget the brand. but they were thin.. top to back..

ran the cord out the bracket, but you could mount a jack without much hassle if you don't have a pup with cord attached like that one.

it works though.. !

I think anything would work.

just get the poles as flat as you can.. and secure it well.

A single coil or humbuck with bar type poles that run straight across would work.

something like the seymour duncan woody would work nice.. fit flat to the head..

those silver dollar size piezos that stick on. those would work, too.

What about this?

If you have the clearance at the base of the neck, it would give you a true humbucker. This is a Kent Armstrong sold by StewMac. It also comes in chrome. They also have an electronic pickup for banjo that goes inside (although it's a little pricey). Cheers.
