VJ3 2nd hand price? What to ask?

Thinking of selling my VJ version3 with bitmo trio mods. I love the sound and warmth but my main sound is 80's rock, soft rock, hard rock and metal and its not great for that. What it does do is great but its sitting there not really getting used to am thinking maybe i could sell it. Only a maybe for now. Want to upgrade my pickups in my kramer striker so could do with some cash. I was looking at emg's but there quite pricey for the set i want S/A S/A 81 or 85. (would swap the VJ for a full set of Emg single-single-85 or 81 but dont think that will happen)

So any ideas on a price to ask? Pretty good condition overall with a few small scratchs down one side on the black covering from when it was in my car boot. Other than the bitmo mods its standard with the eminence speaker inside.

If you could price in pounds would be good too lol. If not dollers will do and i'll work it out!

Would list here also before ebay route. Just dont know what they go for 2nd hand really.

Cheers

I'd say 50-70 GBP. I recently bought a mint, used V3 combo for $70 (48 GBP), and used heads seem to go for about $80 (55 GBP). I wouldn't think the Bitmo mod would add anything significant.

Cheers for that. Maybe i'll check ebay for prices to make sure before i make up my mind. Might be worth hanging onto as theyve gone up loads recently. But we'll see??????

I'd keep it. I like '80s rock, classic rock, blues and metal. While the VJr isn't a metal amp I get what I want out of it with everything else. I also have the Bitmo Trio mods and love it. When I want a VH 1984 type tone I can go one of two ways although I'm sure there are many. One way is I put the Trio on low and put my SansAmp GT2 in front. I love that one. THe other is I put the Trio on Whoa! and put my Boss Compressor in front and there ya go. Point is, unless its real heavy modern metal you should be able to get what you want out of that VJr. Especially when you consider the meager amount of money you would get from selling it.

An EL34 octal mod will definitely get you well into the territories you're talking about, except for metal. The baby will is a great conversion as well, though probably more on the Voxy side than Marshalley, and definitley not into metal territory. If you do either, contact me about component values, because the ones published online leave much to be desired, imo.

having no amp tinkering experience, this whole thread jumps way over my head...

I'll stick to my stock Vjr and blackheart, running them stereo works well enough... guitar mods are more my style
