Has anyone seen or owned one of the acoustic Epiphone Emperors that were suposedly produced in Japan in the 90's? Id love to own one. I already own an american made 1940 emperor, but its probably worth to much a considerable amout to cart back and forth from school everyday. I use it in the school bigband. I also own an Emperor Regent (its 17 3/4 inches wide, not 17), but when I tried it in the orchestra, it was not as loud as the 40 Emperor.

thanks heaps for the link. is there a price listed anywhere? I really want one, because, as I stated before, my 1940 Emperor is too old and valuable to cart back and forth from school daily.

Well...

The price is $4115; but they discount it to $3995 if you pay by check, money order, or bank wire!

(you can see the pricing on the main page of the 'for sale' section here:

According to the price lists in the Walter Carter 'Epiphone' book, the 1993 list price was $2750 and in 1994 it went up to $3200.

That's a freakin steal compared to a Gibson Super 400! I might sell a few of my other guitars, because I really want this one for playing in the school bigband. It will be interesting to see how it compares to my 1940 Emperor. not sure I overly like the honeyburst colour though. Sunburst or natural would have been nice.

Wow I just read how many were produced over the two years, 42. There were more vintage Emperors produced when Epiphone was in America. Its kinda a Catch 22 - I risk my 1940 Emperor, which is much more common, but worth a lot more than the reissue, or use a modern instrument that isn't anywhere near as valuable, but much rarer. What should I do?
