beep
Well I bought the first Les Paul of my life last week , and the thing is I'll never play it. It's an absolutly beautiful Les Paul Studio, Ebony with gold hardware. I got it for my son who just graduated High School and will be heading to college this fall as his 18th birthday and graduation gift. He worked hard in school, graduated with honors, held down a job and played his Epi Les Paul in several bands traveling all over the state playing gigs. He earned his own money to buy all of his gear including the Marshall half stack he plays through. The Epi was starting to fall apart so we went out to buy "strings" together and I had talked to the salesman and had him hold the Les for him. I told him just try it to see if you see any difference with the Epi, He played it and said wow, what a difference. I said it's yours. He didn't believe me till we took it over to the shop to have it set up for him. I've never been as excited to buy a guitar in my life. I don't know who was smiling more. It's rarely been out of his hands since we picked it up. It will be his first "forever" guitar. He'll take the Epi to college, maybe I'll have to pull the Studio out once in a while to be sure the strings are still good. I'd love to post a picture but I'm not great at those things and you've all seen them in person. Just wanted to share the story with you all as my first post. Silverbursted
Two thumbs up dad!!! Very cool. Sounds like you need to go back to the shop and get one for yourself. I really enjoy jamming with my son (mom goes shopping when that happens, don't know why though ).

rybass
I still have the first bass my dad bought me. It wasn't as touching though. I was told I better play the hell out of it if he's spending the money or he's going to burn it for heat. I won't even try to tell you about the guilt trip the amp cost me. But i still have them and I appreciate 'em every time i play them. And I'll never part with them either. It's great to see another dad that supports his son's love an is willing to sacrifice for it. He'll remember it.
