raw power.. I like the sg!

Recommended Posts

Don't care for 'em. Don't like the finishes. Don't like the choice of wood. If I wanted a maple fingerboard I'd buy a fender.

Get back on track, Gibson! Cheers.

But if you want a strat why not go out and buy a strat. For me personally I play Gibson/Epiphone guitars because I like their style and sound (335/dot, 330/casino, Les Paul etc). When I want to expand that sound and get a strat/tele sound I'm not going to spend more money than I have to just to have Gibson on the headstock...

Plus I don't like them aesthetically

An SG with a maple body and maple neck? HAS THIS WORLD GONE MAD????

Actually, I think it looks pretty sweet...except for the translucent pickguard. I personally dont find pickup cavities attractive. Leave it to Gibson to make something sweet and top it off with a dash of "WTF?".

My suggstion would be *any* other pickguard with a matching TRC...and natural headstock...and maybe ditch the vintage pegs on this one.

Actually mahogany neck and a maple fingerboard. Still pretty different for an SG!

From The Article:

"And for the first time the SG is available with a three-piece solid maple neck' date=' topped with a maple fingerboard"

[/quote']

...GONE MAD, I TELL YOU!!!

Well... it's not as bad as the Eye Guitar on the front page:

DSEYRDCH1-Finish-Shot-jpg.aspx

Hey' date=' Floyd - thanx for posting the picture of the offending guitar in question. STILL looks

like it's wearing a pair of white bell-bottom pants.... To Be, or NOT to Be...That is the

question... NO. NO, NO!!!! (and YES, Sexy Gibson, I know you like it...). AAHHHRRRGGHHHH!

Looks like the tech was drunk when he took a router to the upper horn on this one. There is

NO [u']VISUAL BALANCE [/u]to this Guitar, it looks like it was made by an off-brand SG copy company.

Yeeeeccchhhh. I DON'T CARE if the "Headstock sez GIBSON", it should be priced at $29.99 on

the local Craigslist. I'll admit, I'm a Purist - a guitar should look as sweet as it sounds, but to "offer up"

a guitar that was designed by a marketing group that was FREAKING on 'Shrooms while they designed

it... BLASPHEMY, I say!!!! (The COLORS...Oooohhhh.....The Colors.....Oooohhhh.....).

I must be way out there.

I have no idea why anyone would think a maple body would sound like a strat ash or alder.

I have no idea why humbucks would suddenly give strat tones.

There seems to me to be a lot of very odd wood bigotry going on here that's just not held up by fact.

I like multi piece necks.. they're more stable and often give better fatter tone.

I like the look of the eye guitar just fine.. and I like the set up in general. that's all personal taste though.

I like Gibson messing around with design and all.. I think it's a good thing, and I know the guitars are going to be limited runs.. and highly collectible..

because that's the insureance gibson needs.

My favorite strat neck is three piece mahogany and maple. maple being the thin piece.

It certainly wont turn a strat into an sg or lp because you added mahogany.

Man you guys are just a bunch of stick in the muds!

I like a couple of colors of the raw power.. probably natural first, but I like that gold color as well.

But.. to each his own!

Not big on SGs in general, but I am anxiously awaiting the chance to play one of the Pauls in person. I'm pretty much set on either the blue/silverburst, or the natural. Preferably in a gloss finish if that's an potionl which I think it is on some finishes. I want chrome hardware, too. I just hope the chambering doesn't make it feel too hollow for my tastes, that would be the only forseeable deal breaker.

Well, that and I'm broke, LOL.

okay.

gibby has designers that play guitar right? the knob placement on this is awful for my taste. id smack the knob every time I got into the hard hitting shoulder powered strums. That PG is quite....... unique...

only thing i like is the matching color headstock and pickup covers.

well, at least they're showing some creativity... and mild halucinagen use. "groooovy":-s

as for the raw power series,

Im dying to wail on one.... hopefully the natural one with gold hardware (sans that pickguard)

Every idiot has an opinion, and so do I. ;-) Apparently, Gibson made their players leave the room while they were designing this one. For god's sake, it looks like a damned Kay! WTF were they thinking?

well insideman, im willing to pat them on the back for giving a full 24 fret neck. but the praise is to be short lived.

Next comes the interogation to find out who the joker was that actually gave this a greenlight.

This screams daisy rock. Im surprised the finish is not glittery.

ugh.... that damn pickguard.....

I'd like it better (and possibly concider buying one) if it were done on a guitar that traditionally has dot inlays, such as .......perhaps a Flying-V.

A Cherry Red V with the maple fretboard would be more appealing to me, maybe i'm too "set in my ways".
