Slasher 1319 help

Recommended Posts

You sure do a lot of flitting about Slasher1319.

Below, in italics, are some examples of what you've been asking since you joined the forum on 18th February. These are in reverse chronological order. Either you're messing us about somewhat or you need to take a trip to a store that sells Epiphones pretty soon and start trying out some guitars.

By the way, why are you asking for opinions about the Epiphone Lucille when you say you already have one?

Good luck with sorting your situation out.

Everyone says to get a epi 56 gt, that they are going to be all gone soon, does this make sense, since i h eard that epi's have poor resale value, I mean if it is worse quality than the gibson, would it not make sense to get a higher end epi or save up for the real deal?

If i choose this guitar I may want to put in full sized humbuckers, is this a good idea to route it or should i just get mini humbuckers and if i decide on the latter, where do i get them

G-1275: Good Buy? Pics wanted plz and comments about its performance

Epiphone Casino: Any good?

Which electric is best and will have least problems out of the box between these four: epiphone 56 goldtop, epiphone lucille, epiphone les paul custom black, or black beauty (epiphone) thanks

I have a gibson Les paul studio (awesome) and a Yamaha C-70 classical (rubbish) and I was wondering which out of the following two would be a better backup guitar, I play some acoustic, rock bluesy rock, classic rock. I like both of the shapes of the es 335 and jumbo acoustics, Which is better Epiphone Lucille or the Yamaha LJ 6 jumbo acoustic? please reply, thanks a lot

Hi, which of the following electrics are better? the epiphone lucille or the fender mexican strat. I am considering this because all the fender strats mim are now 449 instead of 549-599. thanks

I play a lot of classic rock, zeppelin, eagles, GnR, and Velvet Revolver, Green Day and occassionally nickelback, rolling stones and acdc. Which between the Epiphone Double Neck G-1275 and the Epiphone Lucille would be more suitable to the types of music I play and what are your general experiences in terms of quality, playabillity of these awesome guitars. Also they would be seconding to my gibson les paul studio. Thanks

I am adding a Bigsby B700 to my Epiphone Lucille. Will the epiphone lucille with bigsby still fit in the epiphon es 335 case? or would i need a new case. thanks

Hi, is it worth it and easy to install the Bigsby B7 to the Epiphone Lucille, I am going to make mine look like an es 355

Hi, I saw online that if I wanted to switch pickups on a semihollowbody like the dot, I could snip the old pickup wire and solder the new pickup wire to that, Instead of stretching through the f hole to reach the pots. Is this easier, for someone who would rather do the pickup switch themself. I dont live in the US and there are no guitar stores around me. Also can i do this with the epiphone lucille too? thanks

I play a lot of acdc, guns n roses, led zeppelin, eagles, and bluesy rock. I also love the gibson 57 goldtop darkback vos. which one is better, in terms of sound and quality. I love both but cant decide which. please help and i already have a gibson les paul studio

Hey guys, Can owners put up all the picture of the epiphone goldtop '56 that they have and tell me every and any flaw they have with it, whether cosmetic or electronic. thanks for this and the pics

Epiphone Lucille or Epiphone Sheraton ii: I play a lot of rock, bluesy rock and classic rock. I really like the access panel in the back because i may change the pickups in it and i figure that the lucille with an access panel might be better than reaching through f holes. Does the f holes really cause that much backfeed if i have play i through distortion. Which one do u say is better? keep in mind that i may change the pickups and easy access would be a help but if the sheraton is better ill get that? Oh and even though there arent soundholes in the lucille it still is a semihollow body isnt it?

Hi, Can gibson 57's or semour duncans 59 fit on the epiphone lucille without any modifications to the body itself?

Epiphone BB King Lucille: Well, i'd love to go for the gibson model, however i dont see that happening any time soon, so the epi it is. Have you had any problems in terms of pickups, electronics, hardware, finish any problems at all? Thanks a lot

Epiphone BB King Lucille: Is this guitar any good? or shoud I spend a few years saving for a gibson bb king?

To be fair to Slasher...

Recently I am gassing for / have gassed for:

A Fender thin skin '62 Jaguar (as sold by Dave's in Wisconsin)

A Gibson Firebird (any Gibson Firebird!)

An Ovation electro-acoustic

A Godin (Seagull) electro-acoustic

One of the Chinese Epi Wilshire reissues (to use as a slide guitar)

A Fender Blues Jr amp

One of the many young ladies (with guitars) that Charlie Brown uses to decorate his posts

To date, from the whole of this list, I have acquired:

The Blues Jr (and what a sweet little amp it is).

Maybe Slasher is just suffering from a little GAS. You tend to find that at this forum(!)

;)

slasher stated there is not guitar store near. So, we are his best option for help. It would suck for me not to have acess to a local store to ty things out before buying.

i dont have a guitar store within 200 miles that has more than 5 guitars hanging on the wall but there are plenty of websites like harmony central and mf that have plenty of info. questions like "are casinos any good" are completely subjective to what type of guitar you like. i dont really like jacksons but im sure they make good guitars.

I think the point I'm trying to make is that most people who ask for opinions will ask for comparisons of similar guitars rather than something like a Lucille with a double neck, a Lucille with a Strat or a Lucille with an acoustic. It just all seems a bit wierd. Maybe Slasher has the Lucille already and he's just trying to score the best deal/investment he can on something....anything else, but doesn't appreciate that you can't really expect people to make comparisons between totally different guitars with nothing else to go on.

Despite probably living a long distance from an Epiphone store, he really needs to get out somewhere and play a range of guitars (not just Epis) and find out exactly what type he wants. As the title of the thread says, it's help for Slasher 1319. As others have suggested on this and other threads of Slashers, there are plenty of review websites out there to help guide him.

This thread is the complete antithesis of what this forum should be about.

Abso-FRIGGIN'-lutely, Clark!

So you are saying that Slasher's questions are a waste of the "assets" of the Epiphone Forum or of the "valuable" time of its members? C'mon, man!

Its been slow as all hell in here lately. What would you prefer, another "is my LP a fake" thread ... or perhaps another exciting round of "Epiphone vs. Gibson"? If anyone has a question, they should feel free to go ahead and ask. If the question is silly, let the membership sort it out by not responding.

Furthermore, I don't think that trying to read some "ulterior motive" into a member's thread topic is in keeping with this forum's goal of being a friendly place to exchange information and ideas. Please ... I'm begging you ... no censorship other than that which is spelled out in the Fourm rules, okay?

Chill ...

Jim

Slasher just wants some help and advice. Thats why we are all here, not to kick each other in the balls. If I want that to happen I'll go piss my wife off. Jeez. WTF?

BTW it might be hard for him to get the money together so maybe thats why he is riding the fence so much on this one. I'm sure he just wants to make the right decision before he buys his next guitar. It sucks when you buy one and then realize you made a mistake. Especially when there isn't a guitar store nearby.

Guest icantbuyafender

hmm....

we're all members, and we are here for guitars and the like.

so i see no reason why he shouldnt ask all questions in case we 've got answers

We've all needed opinions sometime or another.

some more than others =D>

I do wish he would just add his questions to the one thread! O:)

But this isn't a very nice thing to do, its just like bullying.

If anyone wants to politely ask slasher to stop making so many posts by PM they can.

Can someone delete this thread please?

to what paruwi6172 said: well I had a lucille on order ONLINE , but then they ran out or something, and i decided to wait till later on, thats the reason for me saying i had one in a previous thread, I am getting a new guitar for results in exams, and so i wanted to make sure the one that i got is the best one for me and for the money.

I already said that I DO NOT live in the States, but in the Caribbean and Gibson/Epiphone has one authorized dealer, in Argentina, I think, not my country, I have seen other than my gibson lp, 3 gibsons and one epiphone in my whole country, A gibson lp studio, Lp standard 08 and lp custom, and an epiphone bass. Keep in mind that all of these but the bass and studio were customers own who sent it to the PRS dealer for repair, so it was off limits, and there was only one of each, the studio's case was sold seperately ( not supposed to be) and when US is converted to money here, the were overcharging by 1900 USD.

I have no plans to visit the US ne time soon so, i need as much hands on experience with the guitars, i am looking at, which explains about the flitting arond. as for what EPIPLAYER said in response to something in the other, I live THOUSANDS OF MILES away from any good store, with brand name instruments,

yes someone mentioned that there are many good review sites, of course there are, but many have not been updated for a long time, so it is useless now.

Once again me asking about the quality about so many guitars was because I wanted to get one that i had to do the least mods too, hence the threads of the g1275, lucille, goldtop etc etc.

I switch from the many different guitars because,

1. I find a bad quality, eg ej200 made from laminate wood

2. then i came back to this guitar because i found out that high heat and humidity like my country can mess up a solid wood guitar, so yea, i asked a lot.

Finally : Thanks to all the people who helped me with my 50 or so posts since i joined, your help was super valuable to me,

Dude a range of guitars, plz as an example this store's website is basically the range of guitars i have acess to..right, check it out and you tell me that if you were buying a guitar not sold in your country and you ONLY had first person access you would not ask a lot of questions about guitars that you now are discovering, website:

www.audioconmusic.com check it out and tell me that my questions were unneccessary, half the brands here are imitations of imitations, and the other half is local made and no one nows the brands, when stores overcharge like they do here...see my previous comment, you tell me that you would want to shop around here, when they charge say like 300 US for a 50 Us guitar online

slasher, you keep asking as many questions as you want mate! that's what this forum is for. if people have issues with them, they can CHOOSE to not open threads started by slasher. simple.

I understand your frustration with not being able to personally test as many guitars as you'd like due to the restrictions faced in your country. Good luck when you do buy one, and remember to post as many pics as you'd like once you have it O:)

That's what this is, guys, an "Is this poster a fake" thread? ("Fake" as in "not for real".) LOL!

Slasher, ask what you want. Those who are interested will answer. Those who are not won't. No fuss, no muss. Cheers.

Again, I apologise if I offended you Slasher.

The more background information you can give, the better people can help you to make the correct decision for you.

Sorry your Lucille fell through but at least you've now got more time to consider exactly what you want. Do you know yet whether you want an acoustic, an archtop, a solid body or a double neck?

No problem, if i were in your situation i would have probably been just as curious, yea im glad i have more time, because after i thought i would have made a mistake with lucille, but i think i'll go that way, just add new tuners, 57 classic pups and possible bigsby

I am proud to belong to a forum whose members possess such a wealth of experience with various guitars, amps and other music gear #-o Sure, a few questions I have asked have remained unanswered, but I guess that's usually because the readers don't HAVE an answer, not because they think that I am a mindless twit. I have avidly read user reviews for years, and show no signs of stopping now. I think that the main reason I enjoy reading reviews is for VALIDATION. That is, to feel good about my purchases and to feel relieved that I did not make any foolish decisions. I have spent many, many hours poring over Harmony Central, Ultimate Guitar, etc. I find it so amusing when a given guitar or amp is given solid 10's, only to be called a POS by some troll or headbanger who wonders why he can't get a good death metal sound from his bolt-neck plywood-and-strings special and 1 watt solid state amp he found in the clearance bin at ***-Mart! ](*,) Maybe in a few years, he will have formed a worthwhile opinion or two :-k
