Swoop
Anyone use a Dot solely for slide? Are they any good for ballsy, dirty blues tones? They're a gorgeous guitar and there are a couple for sale that I know of, which are pretty reasonably priced. I'd really like a dedicated slide guitar, especially a hollow bodied one for that resonant, airy sound. So I was just curious as to whether a Dot or similar hollow/semi hollow Epiphone would be suitable for that kind of thing. What kind ofm usic are they generally used for? Lord Summerisle
No reason why a Dot wouldn't make a great slide guitar. Billy Jenkins gets a killer tone out of an old beat-up Japanese Casino: I think semis / hollowbodies are great for slide. Personally, I'd choose a Dot just because of the extra sustain the extra wood provides, and for the better control of feedback.
Charles Obscure
I've played slide on my Dot. I can get some killer sounds out of it, but I have found it to be a bit prone to feedback at higher volumes. But there's really no reason not to try it out and see how it works for you.
