collin Posted May 8, 2009 Posted May 8, 2009 Hey, what dont you and do you like about these archtops, the lucille and casino?and do you think it makes more sense to get one of the above archtops without amp or a good acoustic that i can play b4 i buy and a vox vt50? gear that i own now: gibson les paul studio, yamaha classical....rubbish and a line 6 spider 3 15 watt? so plz tell me. but if you have either archtops post pics.. thanks..............
pohatu771 Posted May 8, 2009 Posted May 8, 2009 Honestly, if you have a Les Paul Studio, you'd might as well buy a good amp. A good guitar will still sound like crap through a crappy amp. I have a Casino, and on most days I'm quite fond of it (today it didn't treat me very well, for some reason).
bluelake07 Posted May 9, 2009 Posted May 9, 2009 You have an solidbody electric and a nylon-stringed acoustic guitar and I think you should buy a steel-stringed acoustic before looking at a Casino (which I have and am also quite fond of) or a Lucille (don't have, but admire). With those three guitars (solidbody electric, steel and nylon-stringed guitars) you'll have a good base from which you can add to later if you like. Whether you buy an acoustic with or without electronics is your decision to make.
Redddog Posted May 9, 2009 Posted May 9, 2009 I have a Casino' date=' and on most days I'm quite fond of it (today it didn't treat me very well, for some reason).[/quote'] What did it do to you?
Axe2Grind123 Posted May 9, 2009 Posted May 9, 2009 I have Lucille, absolutely love it, at the same time I would love to have a casino. Never played one but I would imagine it has a fuller and 'jazzier' tone. Lucille does not have 'f' holes, so while it's a hollow body it has some properties of a solid body (less chance for feedback, slightly more subdued tone). That being said, a steel string acoustic guitar is a must for me, might be a better choice to go with that first. . . <===Pic of my Lucy is in my avatar Here's another angle . . . Here's a sample of what it sounds like in a band ==> (recorded at rehearsal with a hand held digital recorder, Roland JC-120 Jazz Chorus amplifier, Boss FDR-1 Fender '65 Deluxe Reverb pedal was between guitar and amp - that's it.)
clarkuss Posted May 9, 2009 Posted May 9, 2009 I'm completetely bias b ut BUY A CASINO!! I think everyone should have one. It puts one's other guitars into perspective because it is the lightest, most comfortable and generous sounding guitar I own. It will hold its value if you buy one second hand and in all probability a second hand one will be of better (korean) quality...
Notes_Norton Posted May 10, 2009 Posted May 10, 2009 What do I love about my Casino? 1) Great tone with the P90 pickups 2) Great neck and action 3) Light weight 4) Ability to play as an acoustic What's bad about the Casino? That would depend on the kind of music you play. There is nothing bad about it for me, but if you play at ear damaging volumes, I've heard it has a tendency to feed back and like all single coil pickups, the P90 is prone to hum (but it can be managed as all Fender players can attest to). I've never played a Lucille, but I'd like to. You asked for pictures. Here is my Casino and my Gibson ES-330 Notes
