Reborn08
hi guys i have a les paul ultra and i love it. wonderful to play, great tone and it dont leave a dent in your shoulder. however a friend of mine also has one and finds that the g string keeps flattening its self every time a bend is performed. i have had a look and machine head is not lose and the only thing i can think of is that the sting is slipping on the tuning post. but i don't know how to rectify it. and ideas of what else it could be and how to fix it. much appreciated. thanks. jonnyg
Hi I had a similar problem with a Chet Atkins model except it was two strings (D&G) that kept going out of tune. I took off the strings and switched the heads around and that showed that it was the two relevent heads that were slipping. The "Atkins" was fitted with Jinho tuners which looked like Grovers but were pretty poor, with no tension on them you could feel that they were rough. I fitted a set of real Grovers and the problem disappeared. Hope that helps jonnyg
Axe2Grind123
. . . however a friend of mine also has one and finds that the g string keeps flattening its self every time a bend is performed. Check this thread ===> http://forums.epiphone.com/Default.aspx?g=posts&t=10018 Some great info specifically in regards to 'G' string here... Read Ron G's post - very enlightening.
