I thought this was sort of a propos to the times and some past experiences we have had here..

Dear Musician,

Harmony Central's forums mirror life itself—the ups, the downs, the good, and the bad. It's a community that's actually the size of a pretty big city, and we have people from all walks of life.

Which is why, given what's going on in the world today, it's more important than ever that this be a community where the members support each other. Some have lost jobs, some are going through tough times, and unfortunately, frustrations sometimes get taken out in the forums. But we're all in this together, and as fellow musicians, we should all be sympathetic to the plight of our fellow travelers.

We've noticed that people are more on edge these days, and we see that in the forums; newbie questions are sometimes dismissed rather than answered, people resort to personal attacks in the political forum instead of debating ideas, and occasionally, misunderstandings—always a potential problem when communicating solely via text—spiral out of control. But thankfully, sometimes the reverse is true, where the way of coping manifests itself as humor—links to hilarious YouTube music videos, humorous posts, and jabbing fun at the "sacred cows" of our industry. And, Harmony Central presents a unique opportunity for musicians to help other musicians; there are examples of that happening every day.

When times are tough, you can retreat—or you can reach out. As musicians, now's the time to pull together as a community, and do what we can to make sure that Harmony Central is as much of a safe haven as possible in this crazy world. When you're in the forums, go out of your way to treat your fellow musicians with respect and sympathy—you'll make others feel better, and you'll feel better about yourself, too.
