collin Posted May 17, 2009 Posted May 17, 2009 which one of the following is applied on epiphone guitars? I need to know for my upcoming purchase whether to put it on a special stand to protect the nitro?
charlie brown Posted May 17, 2009 Posted May 17, 2009 Current Epiphones (including Elitist) are Poly! Exceptions, would be JLH Sheratons (Assembled in USA), which were "Nitro" finished, and the current Nashville produced Epi Wilshire. There were some Japanese Epiphone (Not Elitist, but "Epiphone Japan") versions with "Nitro" as well, but they were discontinued in 2006. ALL pre 1970 Vintage Epiphones are Nitro, from the factory. CB
JefferySmith Posted May 17, 2009 Posted May 17, 2009 The handful of us who were lucky enough to get the SG Epiphones with the Gibson head got nitro-finished guitars.
RotcanX Posted May 17, 2009 Posted May 17, 2009 which one of the following is applied on epiphone guitars? I need to know for my upcoming purchase whether to put it on a special stand to protect the nitro? Actually, neither. Epiphone guitars are finished in polyester.
midiman56 Posted May 17, 2009 Posted May 17, 2009 Actually, it is a thick coating of mayonaise and Elmer's Glue which is allowed to dry thououghly and them buffed to a high gloss! Jim
