shibbyuk29 Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 ok i banged my guitar on the case. its cause a small impression, my housemate describe it as a dot its so small, just its a bit annoying, im not too bothered about the impression but you can see a black circle shape around the impression, anything i can do about that? gonna try and get a picture and show you what i mean.
28v6r Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 You can rub it down, fill it, then have it painted. It all depends where the dent is... and how far you are willing to go with it to have it repaired....
Bender 4 Life Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 Placing a steam-iron on top of at least 2 layers of towel over the dent will swell it back out, BUT you run a slight risk of lifting the poly finish in that area as well. A dent in wood is merely where the water has been pressed out of the fiber. I used the steam method to remove dents from literally dozens of gunstocks when I was a "smith" BUT, i've never tried it on anything with a polyvinyl (plastic) finish such as Epiphone guitars have. Best of luck........if it's truly just a "dot", let it go.
Lord Summerisle Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 leave it alone... Does anyone remember the famous episode of Father Ted, in which Father Ted tries to tap out one small dent in his Rover 200 with a ball peen hammer...?

z-clay Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 Let it ride.....dents and dings are no big deal. Any time it bothers you, just take a look at Willie Nelson's guitar and you'll see they dont hurt the sound.
animalfarm Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 I've heard of the "Steam" technique using a soldering iron and wet rag to better "focus" the heat, have NEVER tried it, and would only do so on a JUNKER first to see the results.
