Got My first Epiphone Today!

I've been playing Fender Telecaster reissues for a long time but recently decided to buy a Les paul. I had all intentions of buying a Gibson.......... and ended up choosing an Epiphone. This guitar just felt like "the one".

Nice. Happy new guitar day! Or should that be 'Happy First Epiphone Day'? How's she sound?

The Les Paul is definitely a 'The One' kind of guitar. They just feel so nice and natural to hold and play, and boy do they sound great. Enjoy it!

Thanks Swoop, I'm totally stoked over it. I'm getting a really fat sound that my old Tele just wont make. I must have played 20 Les Pauls over the past week and this one is the winner. I'm very satisfied.

YES! Much better with a pickguard! I know lots of people take the pickguard off, but it just looks bare to me! I really need to get onto fitting the new pickguard to mine, but I need to remove about 1mm from the cutout for the bridge pickup to get it to fit. Might take it to school with me tomorrow and use the ol' bandsaw.

Now I want to go play my LP!

Nice guitar!! I like the color a lot. I agree that it looks better with the pickguard.

You're going to get a lot of discussion over that issue!!

And blueslespaul is right. A guitar bought because it feels right is always going to be better for the player.

ENJOY.

For me it was love at first sight with the LP. but that is only because of the amp I play through. But it should always be for what it sounds like. I purchased a 2700.00 Gibson LP plus top and it killed me. I now own two Epi's and it amazes me how much I love these guitars. the one I had the option to play before I purchased the other it was such a rare color I just had to take a chance. and it turned out to sound killer. I will be buying as many Ovations, my acoustic choice and as many LP's as I can afford when the price is right. the only thing that matters is you rock out wit your LP out!!!!

Thanks guys, I could barely sleep last night....got up extra early to jam before work. LoL

Gord- The amber definitely caught my eye, it has a different look from almost everyone that I looked at.

Jagg11- You have a nice collection. I may get another Epiphone LP later..... There was a new plaintop one that I really liked. It was a tobacco burst plaintop standard with amber tinted logo and binding. It also had an "Epiphone Custom Shop" decal (under the finish) on the back of the headstock. It was nice.

jcwillow- The amber flame is nice without the guard. Hmmm.... I may be removing the guard a few times before I finally decide.

Thanks mgrmatt I appreciate the welcome and think this is a cool forum. Is your signature guitar one of the New Epiphone plaintop standards with the custom shop logo on back of the headstock? I'm getting one of those that I played last week if its still at the store this Friday..........These Epiphones are hard to walk away from with just one. They seem to have their own sound and it varies from guitar to guitar.

Thanks RaSTuS- I dont really consider it a marrige because I plan on keeping this guitar way longer than those last. LoL

Congrats on that beautiful Amber Burst Epiphone Les Paul!!

Such a great color!

I remember when I got my first Epiphone. It was an awesome Alpine White Les Paul Custom ..... which I still have.

I loved it so much I became hooked on Epiphones!! I ended up buying a BUNCH more!!

I ended up getting some Gibson Les Pauls also........ but I still love the Epis just as much.
