Epiphone Casino Sizes

Ok I now own three different Casinos (Peerless 96, Peerless 2006 [pics soon], Unsung 2006) and have noticed that while I wasn't surprised that the Peerless one was smaller and more Jazzy than the Lennonesque unsung one, my 2006 Peerless Casino is actually even smaller. When standing up it is about an inch or two shorter and it is less wide looking face on. I'll get some pics up soon for comparison with some measurements but just found this really strange.

Somebody on another forum said:

"Unsung Casinos feature the 1966 body shape. Pearless (sic) feature the 1960-1963 body shape and China and Terada the 1964-1965 body shape."

Anyone know anymore about this theory?

This is my '66 (USA Kalamazoo made) Casino. So...you can check the body shape compared to it.

As you can see the upper bout horns are more pointed and a bit smaller, than previous or current

models, generally speaking. (See John Lennon's '65, in my Avatar, for comparison)

Don't know, about how the various Asian factories decide on what

body-shape, they'll use. I was under the impression (probably mistakenly so?) that, the Asian

versions were kind of a "generic" 335 style, as opposed to being of a particular year of an actual

Casino. But...who knows? Maybe someone from Epiphone can chime in here....where are you

"Epi-1?"

Lovely Casino! The Unsung one I have isn't as pointy as that in the horns but I don't think I've ever seen another Casino with horns like that. Here are my 96 Peerless and 06 Unsung for comparison but I will obviously take some pics in specfic regard to this discussion because these don't show things as clearly. Probbaly be tomorrow before I get them up now.

I also think it's unlikely that the Asian guitars based their models on any pre existing pattern. I will have to wait many years when I own them all before I can make any authorative statement about it. Then I'll be able to compare my large collection of 20+ casinos from all over the world and every decade. haha.

I like it that they're all quite different but I was surprised that there were differences within one factory. Although they were made ten years apart.
