Hey Guys,

Well as the 3rd of June approaches I am hopeful of a new guitar. This is due to the fact that my parents offered to buy me an Ibanez RG the other week. But instead I asked if instead the money could go towards an Epiphone G400 which i've seen. Here's why;

The deals a reputable dealer within Yorkshire

The Guitars finish is impecable and a wonderfully deep cherry red. (Unlike alot of the ones bordering on orange)

It would go hand in hand with my Les Paul and the upper fret access is brilliant for me. The limitations of a Les paul octave wise do drive me up the wall sometimes.

Having the G400 to play also means my Les Paul wont get dammaged by friends (HUGE BONUS!)

Opinions on the guitar and any consumer feedback are much appreciated.

Cheers Fella's

Northern Guitars in Leeds?

or Antones in Hull?

I've been in both when I was in the UK. I thought both were good stores.

To answer your question Wrighty, I think the G-400 is the best value guitar Epiphone make.

I own a 2006 G-400 made by Unsung, China, and it's sweet. I've kept it completely stock, and use it for blues and also for some slide work (using an expansion nut). The Grovers are superb, it stays in tune just fine. My only comment would be that although I love the stock Epi Alnico Vs, if you really like to rock out then you'll probably want change the pick-ups at some point down the line. But for my bluesy/jazzy stuff I think they're superb (especially the neck p'up).

And I paid $299 for this guitar (new) during a Musicians Friend sale. Feel like a stole it...

Seriously, you can't go wrong with a G-400...Good luck with yours.

Definitely go for the G400. They are brilliant, and I cannot say enough good things about them. Fantastic value for money as has been stated. I love mine and I'm sure you'll love yours. Cherry really is the best colour for them too!

Wow, I had no idea that Tokai were still in the guitar business. That headstock still looks remarkably similar to their 'lawsuit' days...

Their website ( http://www.tokai-guitars.co.uk/ ) shows some lovely stuff.

One thing that really caught my eye was their "ES150"

Looks like a good substitute for the (sadly defunct) Elitist Dot (block inlays aside...)
