I've built quite a few of the BYOC kits over the last few months. (Thanks M-Theory for giving me a new addiction! Now I'm doing stuff on perf board and terminal strips.)

I can't tell you about the OD2, but I have built the BYOC 250+ kit now for myself and several other people. It is probably the easiest one of their kits to build. It comes with the parts to build a clone of either the DOD 250 or the MXR Distortion +, or a mixture of the two. Its' super versatile as a boost, OD, or all out dirtbox.

If you're are good at soldering, and if you've ever built a model car, you should be able to build one of these kits, but be warned...once you do, prepare to spend all your free time building more pedals, or thinking of your next build, or how to justify the cost of the next pedal!

The Eternity is a real nice tube screamer variant...my favorite, actually. The OD2 appears to be a modified tube screamer combined with a mosfet boost. I'm sure both would sound great, but the BYOC box would have the added versatility of that boost circuit, FWIW.

Also, check out diystompboxes.com, generalguitargadgets.com, olcircuits.com, and runoffgroove.com. I just built the "Umble" from ROG, and it's fantastic. They've done some really cool stuff with FETs. If you're not into perf building, OLC has some of those circuit in kit form, on PCB. You can find scores of vero (stripboard) layouts in the layouts gallery at diy, also, if you're up for that kind of build.

Yes, you will become addicted once you start, so prepare for that. It's a reasonably healthy addiction, though!
