Notes_Norton
That's all I need, an excuse to show off my guitar cousins (2001 MIK/Peerless Casino and 1970 Kalamazoo ES-330) Notes

ataylor
Thanks for the pics so far! I'm having a hard time deciding between sunburst and natural. I guess I need both! But which do I get first? And sometimes the cherry ones look great too... I think the sunbursts on the newer Chinese models look great (like the bigsby one above) and I'm wondering if it's worth it to pay $400 more for that new IbJL model that's coming out. Part of me thinks I should wait and see what those end up looking like, but part of me is ready to start playing a Casino immediately. What should I do? Keep the pics coming. charlie brown
This is interesting, as it illustrates the degrees even the same model guitar has varied, in constrution, from year to year, factory to factory. Mostly, in the upper horn/bout area...and neck joint, of course. Some, the horns actually point outward, away from the neck, some point upward, some are slimmer, other's more rounded. My '66 (Below) has even more "Pointed" horns, as was typical, after '65. The original pre-'66 Casino's, had a horn configuration, more like (Bob) Notes Norton's ES-330....See "Lennon Casino" and the "Elisits" versions. No big deal, really...but it's interesting. My "Vintage" '66 Casino (Refinished in 1981, prior to the "Vintage Craze," when it was just a "used guitar!") This was refinished, due to the fact, that the original owner (In Seattle) had spray painted it, in a variety of colors, with no particular "design," then scratched off, to different layers of paint, besides! Needless to say, it was a MESS! But, structurally sound. So, I opted to refinish it. There was NO "Collectible" value, and in fact, Casino's were (somewhat) hard to find, THEN...and, because it has been refinished, probably little collectible value, NOW! LOL! But, I don't care...I love the guitar, everyone that plays it, doesn't want to give it back to me. That's testament enough, to it's value...for me, anyway. Cheers, CB

Don't know if they'll be worth the extra 400 dollars. Most likely to me they wont....but you never know.

I would wait to at least see if you like the new ones enough to pay the extra cash. Wait until you get a chance to play them both.

I've seen a few of the newer Chinese models that have bursts similar to yours. I prefer the trapeze tailpiece, but I think all the ltd. edition bigsby models look great. Congrats on an awesome guitar. We'll see what kind of deal i can swing with the new IbJL models. It would be nice to have a more "vintage" looking guitar, but I don't think you can go wrong with the standard models.
