What IS IT, you LOVE, about your Casino?!

OK...I go first.

1) Tone

2) Looks (close second, to tone)

3) playability and overall "feel!" (close third to Tone, and Looks) :>)

4) weight!

And, I don't know, really....there is a sound/tone that a Casino has, that no other guitar (at least that I own)

has ever duplicated. None of my other Epiphones, or Gibsons. It's always been just a "special" guitar! And,

oddly enough, even people that don't play guitar, seem to love it's looks and tone! I've had more comments

to that effect, than any other guitar I own, as well.

So, how about you guys? (Or, ladies, too?)

I'm gonna leave superficial details (e.g., tuners, finish, etc.) out of this. First and foremost: It's mine! I've got a freakin' Casino! Given the history associated with that particular model instrument, the mojo factor alone is through the roof. What's not to love about that?!

Secondly, it's got a wonderful tone. P-90s, I find, have the right blend of warmth and bite; the best of single coil and humbucker tones. The first time I played "I Want You (She's So Heavy)" on it, I nearly had an orgasm right then and there. Not only did it sound like the record (as it should have), but when I switched to the neck pickup for the middle solo and drove it, it sang with such a sensual tone that set my soul ablaze.

Thirdly, it's perfectly usable unplugged. When I'm practicing without an amp, I almost always go for the Casino. Sure, it sounds different from my acoustic, but I find it easier to play (probably because its body is thinner) while, at the same time, maintaining the richness of, say, an open G chord at a decent volume.

Lastly, and most importantly, it just feels right in my hands. Sure, my Les Paul's neck is slimmer and, probably, better suited for my relatively small hands, but there's a great balance of the thickness of the neck profile and the width of the neck that I find enjoyable and unnoticeable when I play. I think I covered all the bases.

Well' date=' that was fun; you asked then answered your question! [/quote']

LOL! Yeah, this may be the shortest thread yet, on a Casino?! But, I'm sure there are

others who have the similar reasons, but other's as well. Like, some experience you

once had, playing a Casino, that you've never had, with any other guitar? Why you

bought one, in the first place? What you might like to change, if anything? What kind

of music, if you have a preference, that you especially prefer to use the Casino on?

Color preference, or with or without Bigsby, and why? If certain versions (US, Japanese,

Korean, Chinese) are better, and why...IF they are? Opinions, sure...but, that's what

this is all about. ;>)

1. It has a unique growl, that no other guitar I own can emulate.

2. The fret and neck board is absolutely perfect. It's the only guitar I own that didn't need fret or neck work.

3. I can play it acoustically and still have a dreamy tone.

4. It's friggin light as a feather.

5. It just has a regal beauty to it

My EJ300SCE is a bulky guitar to play sitting down and I find that "Cassie" is far more comfortable to hold, and shouldn't holding our ladies be an enjoyable experience? The acoustic performance is better than that of my solid bodies and so she again is frequently the one I chose for practice. All in all cuddling up to Cassie is an enjoyable experience! I like the noises she makes when I am caressing her strings but she doesn't like my amp much and looses "it" frequently when they are bought close together. I love her elegant lines.

Here are a couple of pics of Cassie while we were out gathering firewood (she was a great help). The other pic is Cassie by the dam a la Photoshop. Digger

Was just thinking that I've never seen a female guitarist playing a Casino. The closest would be the late jazzer Emily Remler with her Gibson ES-330. The light weight of the Casino certainly appeals to me, but I've seen plenty of women playing Les Paul guitars so maybe weight isn't an issue for them and they just don't like the looks or something.

I love the feel of the Casino, ergonomically it's the most comfortable guitar I own,I have a natural and a '65 John Lennon. The '65 for some reason is much easier on the hands, perhaps that's due to the extra work and set up that goes into them.I have developed arthritis in my hands and find myself playing the Casinos even more.Only a Casino has that unique sound also.I plug it into my Vox amp and it's"INSTANT KARMA" the real John Lennon sound just to play "Don't let me down" sends goosebumps up my spine. All in all for sound and playability the Casino is just right for me,I used to be a confirmed Strat man (I have 4)but they don't see much action lately.

1. it's John Lennon's guitar

2. it was George Harrison's guitar

3. it was Paul McCartney's guitar

4. Keth Richards played one

5. Paul Weller plays one

Tone? Meaningless. I play the same notes as John does and I sure don't sound like him.

But my guitar looks like his.

That gives me a thrill everytime I pick it up to play it.

I was' date=' of course, kidding. [/quote']

Even if you hadn't been kidding, I was OK with what you wrote because the Casino is not ideal for all guitar styles and if it doesn't work for the music you play, fine. Myself and others have gotten in some digs on the Zakk Wylde guitars and they would probably be a lot more useful to you and others who play the heavier rock music. Wouldn't want someone to read our praises of the Casino and rush out to buy one thinking that it is a do-everything guitar.

Yep..."The Beatles" have certainly sold a LOT of Casino's! (As well as Rickenbacker's (guitars and basses) and Hofner basses.)...and probably any other

guitar they played? ;>b I admit, the first Casino I bought, was because they played them. However, I stuck with it, because I really loved the guitar.

Hah, of course, although very few people are as clear-headed around such issues as yourself. The thread is about the goodness of Casinos, not the badness, so I've refrained from criticizing it as such. I'd actually love one for a folk/rock track I'm working on at the moment!

And I think most of the ZW guitars are yuck. The original Bullseye LP isn't bad, the camo one is yuck, the ZV is awkward, and the Graveyard Disciple is just an aberration.

And yeah, working on a tight budget while playing many kinds of musical styles means pretty much all of my guitars need to be suitable for metal when the need inevitably arises while also trying to fit my lighter funk/folk/groove stuff.
