BillyGibson
Scarf Joints Now that I have my first Korean made guitar - 56 Goldtop, I noticed the scarf joint on neck is located about 3 frets down from the nut. Whereas, on my EE 07 series LP (which I sold to get the Goldtop), the scarf joint was directly behind the nut on the headstock. If the neck were painted, like my Dot Deluxe, I wouldn't have noticed. Not a big deal, but I had to give the GT a good once over while I was polishing it and noticed the difference. Even more importantly, I noticed the difference in p/u's. P90's are incredible. That's why I sold the Standard LP and kept the Dot. Plus, the Goldtop is just plain cool. I couldn't tell enough difference plugged in between the two, to feel the need for two humbucker guitars. And I'm really, really trying not to become a collector. I going to keep trying to go with the "one in, one out" system. But as I searched for my P90 equipped guitar, I struggled choosing between the Casino and Goldtop. Those Vintage Sunburst Casinos are beautiful. I'm going to try to put it out of my mind now. RobinTheHood
Heh. I've had my EBM bass for almost 20 years, and just noticed last week that it has a scarf joint. Incidently, it's Korean and is at about the 3rd or 4th fret also. Not sure if the manufacturing locaton is relevant though.
