How to "Read" pickup winding values while Pups still in guitar, and MORE!!!

Would it be any more accurate if you take the reading at the input jack or right off the pickup leads at the pots??

Thanks for the info...you were right on the money. I used a 6" patch cord and got 8.28 k on the neck and 13.13 k on the bridge of the Studio HB's.
