My guitars and learning how to post

1st of all I'd like to welcome you to the forum. That's a nice

selection of guitars you've got there. Seems like one of everything

I've ever wanted.

I've got some questions about the Sheraton. It seems as though the

people who own one, would'nt give them up for any other.

How are they different from the Casino, or Dot?

This is an interesting question. After owning a DOT for some time (MIK 2002) I've just got a 2009 MIC Sheraton II. The Sheraton is lighter, slightly smaller and seems not quite so solidly built as the DOT. Is this the difference between the Sheraton and the DOT, or between a MIK and a MIC Sheraton? First off I thought the DOT actually felt the better guitar of the two, but the slight difference in size means I'm really getting to like the Sheraton. I was having problems with the shape and balance of the DOT, but the Sheraton seems to have changed all this - it's much more 'playable' IMO.

When I was shopping for a semi-hollow body, I looked at the DOT and Sheraton. I would like to say playabilty or sound, but the fact was that I loved the look of the Sherry the best. Come to really enjoy playing it. I still try to play a DOT in the guitar store, and from my eye and ear the Sherry just seems a little nicer than the DOT. I think this is totally a personal view point. Both guitars are worth their price. I did play a ES 355. Very nice, but too pricey. Settled on the Sherry so I could afford getting the Martin Aura. I was thinking of upgrading the Sherry pickups but only because I have read that the Vintage 57's are nice. That is a whole other post.

The Sheraton and Dot are very similar, the Casino is different from either. Here's a quick summary of the functional differences:

Body: Sheraton and Dot are semi-hollow, with a centerblock, Casino is fully hollow

Pickups: Sheraton and Dot have humbuckers, Casino has P-90 single coils

Neck: Sheraton has a 3-piece laminated maple neck, Dot and Casino have mahogany with scarf joint

Neck/Body joint Sheraton and Dot join at the 19th fret, Casino at the 16th or 17th fret (depending on version)

Cosmetically, the Sheraton has gold-plated hardware, the other 2 are chrome, and the Sheraton has fancier binding and inlays. Sheri necks tend to be slimmer than Dot necks, but both can vary a bit.
