LENNON REV/65 BEING MADE AGAIN!!!!! NOT THE INSPIRED BY

I live less than 4 miles away from one of the largest music stores in the world "Sweetwater Sound". They have ruined our local music community & are a bunch of over paid car salesmen that have now turned to music gear instead, but this is all besides the fact. Any rate, I read on their website yesterday that they are supposed to receive new shipments of the JL Rev & 65 Casino's by mid Dec 09. I had to call to really find out if this was true. The "sales tech" a.k.a "Sales ***" told me that "Yes it has been confirmed that Sweetwater will be receiving more Lennon Casinos." How is this possible? I thought all of the Lennons were sold, considering there were only supposed to be 1965 of them? Does anybody know if this is all b.s. or if this is true?:)/

How many Lennon Casinos were made is really a bit of a mystery... they say that 1965 were made of each model, but they began production ten years ago.

Musician's Friend, as of a few days ago, was only showing the Revolution model, and a single used piece, but now both the 1965 and Revolution are in the catalog again.

Maybe they will be un-numbered, so not part of the "limited run."

You'll note that when any of the guitar manufacturers number something, they might say something like "it's part of a limited run of numbered guitars" or a "numbered edition limited to XXX."

Those phrases give you the impression that production will cease after that number is produced, but careful reading shows you they don't actually mean that. They just say the numbering will stop. It lets the manufacturers off the hook if they want to produce more of that guiat, but outside of the series that was numbered.

That said, I don't know whether Epiphone actually marketed the Lennon series as limited to just the numbered ones or not, and I don't really care, 'cause as instruments, they are worth the selling price.

I tend to think they did, though, because they sold off the unnumbered overruns and warranty replacement guitars on the cheap a couple of years ago, marking them only with a discreet R the back of the neck. If they inteneded to keep on selling the Lennon Casinos past the numbered editions, they would have sold these full price, don't you think? On the other hand, maybe they wanted some to pass, to lessen the possibilty of an uproar from those who feel cheated, like Anon.

Also, just because a guitar is leaving a warehouse on its way to Sweetwater doesn't mean it was freshly made. It could mean it was sitting in a warehouse til somebody wanted to buy it.

We'll see...

I hope they're not putting out another '65 and Rev. model, part of the reason I bought my '65 was because of the exclusivity of it.Epiphone said only !965 of these numbered Yoko Ono-Lennon endorsed guitars would be made and they should stick that.I bought partly as an investment(not that I'd ever sell it)after my retirement fund took a huge beating in this and last years financial upheaval. To produce more would devalue the other 1965 guitars.I guess that's the chance you take in taking a companies word for it these days.

I really couldn't give a damn about the numbering system. Great guitars, will always be collectable by people who want to play nice guitars even if they made a million because they cost what they cost and are worth every penny. The less guitars selling for $10,000+ in the world the better.

Put your money in shares/property. Play your guitars.

First off, I don't own an official Lennon 65 or Rev Casino, although I did buy a Lennon 65 body (minor scratch on front) & then assembled it to the Lennon specs. Secondly, Red 333 is a motherf@#Ker on rag, along with all of you other pretentious f@#ktards who think I'm pissed off that "my investment" wont be worth as much tomorrow. Guess what, it never will be worth anything, its missing a f@#king serial number, so I don't give a sh!t!!! 3rd, this is great news to me, because now I can buy another one!!! 4th, when the f@#k did I ever say I felt cheated?

PS/ Red 333, if you would have come @ me like that in person. I would have punched you in the throat... Have a nice day *****.

High praise indeed, sir.

By the way, my post was intended as a response to Pahatu. I should have made that clearer. I never intended to come after you, and am sorry that you feel that way. I simply stated I felt the guitar was worth the money, numbered edition or not. I have two of the Lennon Casinos, so I'm certainly entitled to that opinion. I never said you thought it lessened your investment, or any such thing, and didn't think you had one, anyway.

I did say you were in an uproar and felt cheated (not monetarily, but in the sense Epi pulled a fast one), which was the impression I got from your first post. That's not an insult, just my impression of your state of mind. I apologize if that was a mischaracterization and it offended you.

But listen, relax. You don't have to go around insulting or threatening people on this forum (or any). This is a good place for people to discuss guitars and music, if you let it be one, OK.

Never had any problems with Sweetwater. I agree the "Sales Engineer" tag as opposed to just calling their staff salesmen (or women) is a bit pretentious, but so what? At least they know their products. I've always had a great experience dealing with my Sweetwater "Sales Engineer." They don't do they whole 'in stock when you order it, but mysteriously back-ordered once we have your money' thing that Musicians Friend do so well. Their products are always delivered in a timely manner, and are first rate products...I've never had a guitar from Sweetwater that looked like it had been extensively played and then returned. I have had that experience buying from other online dealers - (which prompted a massive argument because I regarded such an instrument as 'used,' and then sold at the 'new' price point.)

I guess what you gain from any business transaction is somewhat dependent upon your attitude as you enter into it...
