rockstar232007
Some are cast alluminum (used on vintage/reissue Gibson guitars), and some are a zinc alloy. The zinc alloy (which Gibson started using in the '70s) was chosen due in part to the fact that it took A LOT less time/effort to finish them. I'm assuming the Elitists have the ones made from zinc alloy, because they are Gibson parts.

Ricochet
I think you allready know what it sounds like. Most larger bridgeparts used on guitars are some kind of zinc alloy, finished with a layer of nickel, chrome or gold.
rockstar232007
zinc? never would have guessed. what does zinc sound like? is it similar sounding to another material? Zinc is almost identical to aluminum, the only difference is that it is easier to cast than aluminum, and easier to finish (less hand work). It also is easier to plate, as the chrome/gold plating adheres better to it. But it's affect on sound is pretty much the same.
eor
that's helpful to know. i was tinkering with the idea of installing a bigsby, which lead me to a possible bridge swap, so i was wondering what was already in there. i like the sound fine, so i know to look for something similar. i've had success with other materials (stainless steel, for one), so i wanted to be sure where i was before i figured out where im going. thanks!
