Shielding tape?

I was just wondering if there is some kind of material that I can buy at Lowe's or another hardware store that is the same thing as shielding tape? Is that foil tape used on ductwork the same thing? I am just wondering because I don't want to have to wait after ordering it from somewhere. I was just trying to save time. Thanks.

I'm not sure, but I will say that find the large sheet of shielding material you can buy to be much better than tape on a roll. I bought a set of different widths of shielding tape on a roll from StewMac, and it is a right pain in the rear to get it to stick. I just doesn't seem to want to adhere to anything, which is a shame because it would save a lot of time, not having to cut it into strips etc, and it's generally better value for money than the sheet you can buy.

In the past I've used aluminum shielding tape. I've come to the conclusion

that aluminum is not the best material for grounding; it is hard to solder to.

It does conduct though , and the glue on it is very sticky.

I also used paint which I like. You have to use small screws in the cavities to anchor your wires, though.

If you have one large universal cavity, go with the paint.

I have not used the copper tape, but it sounds like Swoop has, and didn't have fun.

Not at all, I love cutting and fitting the tape actually. But it would be much easier to just cut a strip off a roll and stick it in, but as I said, the stuff on a rol is pretty bloody useless really.
