DR Pure Blues Nickel 10-46 are excellent. I use them on my SG, Firebird, and on my Les Paul when I had that. They're excellent for guitars with humbuckers, and when you're using moderate to high distortion. They sustain like mad, and they last a long time. They're also very easy to tune, you don't need to stretch them. Just fit them, tune, play for a while, re-tune, and you're done. Great for bends too. You can bend them all day long and they feel as good as new. I use D'Addario half round 10-46 on my Casino and Strat, and they take a bit of tuning and playing before they're properly bedded in and stable. Same with regular D'Addario XL round wounds. The D'Addarios seem to give my Strat a bit more of that twang. I haven't tried anything but the half rounds on my Casino, but I like the way it sounds.

I've heard both 9's or 10's depending on the model. Dots specifically: I don't know. Personally I use 10's by Cleartone and have been really happy with them. They do seem to last longer without much tone degradation. They cost a little more but I hate changing strings. I started with D'Addario XL's but really like the Cleartones convienience and feel more. It seems to go both ways but after using coated strings other stuff just feels too wire-y if that makes any sense. I recently strung up my beater with a set of light top/heavy bottom Cleartones (10-13-17-30-42-52 compared to standard 10-13-17-26-36-46) just as an experiment. I play fairly heavy handed and wanted to see if it gave me any extra oompfh. It did; but whether or not it's something that's a help or a hinderance still remains to be determined. This has been a topic of discussion several times and it always seems to break down as about 50/50 between EB's and D'A XL's with a few odds and ends. I have noticed a few more Cleartone users every time this comes up though....

EPi LP - Powerslinky 11's with a 56 on the bottom E

Dot Studio - Powerslinky 11's

Tele - Coated Slinky 11's (Got some weird reaction going on this one which causes the strings and my finger tips to go black within minutes of playing. Only strings which don't cause this are the coated slinkies! Otherwise prefer D'Addario 11's)

Strat - Regular Slinky 10's

Thanks, maybe I'll try out a little heavier set.....

Lovin' my Cherry Dot. I had a Gibson ES-137 for a while and I think I like my Dot better!!!!

The 137 had a flaw, kind of a train wreck where the binding came together. The Dot is perfect. And the color of the binding is great. The 137 binding was too white.
