mud guy Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 Hi All- Noticed on Long and McQuade's site (Like Guitar Center in Canada) links to a limited edition (Canada only?) Epiphone Negative Series Les Paul Standard- $580 CDN SG Standard- $399 CDN 67 Flying V- $630. The premise is like a negative of a photograph...All are white, black hardware and maple fretboards with black inlays. Cal
ItsForrest Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 Pics are showing up for me. Interesting look. The maple fretboard really pops against the white body and black hardware. Peter - I though you were going to say they were made in Indonesia. ;)
Swoop Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 For those of you having trouble with pics, press Ctrl + F5, and that should hopefully remedy the issue. Canadian only? Must be because of the maple, eh? The only one that would interest me is the Les Paul, and I'd rather that the whole neck was bare maple, finished in a very light satin stain/clear like my Strat, and the body was finished in a nice honey burst or something. The black, white, and maple is all way too contrasty for my liking. And, even though I love trapezoidal inlays, they look crap in black on a maple board. A simple black dot is much better on maple.
ItsForrest Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 The more I look at it, the maple neck looks kind of awkward against the black and white. It looks out of place. With more color on the body, like a honey burst as swoop mentioned, I think the color would balance much better. Of course then they would have to call it something else as it would lose the 'negative' effect.
deflepfan Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 For those of you having trouble with pics' date=' press Ctrl + F5, and that should hopefully remedy the issue.[/i'] Still doesn't show. I'll Google them.
ItsForrest Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 Well, to look at the Les Paul Negative click on me
bluesman345 Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 Judging from our members' comments here, I would say that "Negative" is a very fitting name for this series.
deflepfan Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 Well' date=' to look at the Les Paul Negativeclick on me Nope, no pic there either. When I went to the website, my computer hung up on trying to open the pic. I guess only the few and blessed are allowed to veiw this creation!
Gordy01 Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 I have no comment, as I can not see any pics. Are we certain there are really pics to see?? Is this just another bad joke? What?? Me paranoid??
bonzoboy Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 I went into the L&M site and couldn't get up pics either, from the description it should be a nice looking guitar, that is if it exists. -----------------------------------------
crust Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 Pics show OK for me. The guitars do look different. I like the V the LP and SG...meh
brianh Posted November 7, 2009 Posted November 7, 2009 There are some very strange things going on with images at L&M and here at the forum. Whatever, here is another attempt to post the pics:
Stevie Nazarenie Posted November 7, 2009 Posted November 7, 2009 what are the body and neck made of? i'd love a maple v!
Jessie Sammler Posted November 16, 2009 Posted November 16, 2009 At least they're finally giving a nod to the maple neck thing. :P Still, I think that Explorer and I could do some business.
Guest Posted November 16, 2009 Posted November 16, 2009 They all need white pickups and white headstocks with a black Epi logo, or they're not really negative enough to be called "negative".
CapnCrossbones Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 This is my Explorer 1/120 made and only 11 are left in stores throughout Canada. I love this guitar! The pickups are pretty clean tone and sharp the fretboard is maple and it weighs a ton. I noticed my headstock Epiphone name looks different from the Long McQuade pic. I got it from Long McQuade too. They are made exclusively for Canada. The fella above some comments mentioned the pickups should be white , I think I am going to dye mine white lol awesome idea thank you! Gary Moore Tribute Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 Here in the UK we had the SG g400 and Les Paul I had the Negative SG for a time and its still available GuitarGuitar - SG G400 It was well made but in the time I owned it I found little difference between this and a rosewood version in terms of output
RaSTuS Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 I'll take a maple board over a rosewood or ebony any day, with my eyesight I can see black dots on white much easier than I can see white on black.

I have to agree with that, thats what originally pulled me in, it was very nice with ALL the hardware in black...
bliss :) Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 this is great but i don't seem to like the fret board
RUSHian Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 Very Cool!! Another exclusive?! First Japan, now Canada?
LSAR Posted May 12, 2011 Posted May 12, 2011 I've played the V, the binding and fretwork was BAD, it sounded good though!
