Quesion on 57 classics.

Recommended Posts

Is it true that the sets of 57 classics, before the classic plus, were the same pups for the neck and bridge? Seems I recall this being the way it was. Only later the classic plus came out and then you could buy the sets with two classics or with one classic plus and the classic, is this correct?

I'm not sure when the Classic Plus was introduced, but some Gibsons (the 335 for example) has, and the last time I checked, still has, two Classics installed; and not a Classic Plus at the bridge. I'm about to modify a Sheraton, and thought I should go for two Classics (as a sort of hommage to the 335); but have used the Classic/Classic Plus combination elsewhere (in an Epi 175) and can't say I've really noticed all that much difference. I assume the idea si thaat Classic Plus boosts the signal from the weaker position so that it is more or less equal to the neck signal.
