Wiz-ski
Man, this Casino gives me serious GAS. So what's the story? Do these automatically get cred because they are "japanese made", or are they really up to Vintage specs, on par with vintage/elitists as I've read? Who's got them? I've never seen one in person, as they are few and far between...... http://cgi.ebay.com/EPIPHONE-CASINO-SB-1961-BY-MATSUMOKI_W0QQitemZ270479827524QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Musical_Instruments_Guitars_CV?hash=item3ef9daa244
matiac
I never been there, but the brochure looks nice... Seriously though, I had an opportunity to play a used standard Casino at the MIGHTY Guitar Center, and although pwetty feedbackish, it played, and sounded real nice when pushed, if you could find the "sweet spot" for feedback prevention, those P90's really bark...nice guitar overall, I imagine the Jap variant would inevitably be better. AS90
I have been gassing for a Matsumoku Casino or Riviera for a while now. They are great guitars! Easily on par with Elitists and, lets face it, much better than most vintage specimins you are going to come across these days. I nearly bought one off Frenchie on here who owned a couple of them. jonnyg
Guitars have come and gone over the years but I've never even considered selling my '83 Riviera, which I've owned from new. There's just something about it that feels right and the sound just gets better as the years go by. It's totally stock, I have never had to replace anything (I put the gold control knobs on because I preferred them to the original black ones). If I was to sell it (in England) I'd probably get about £600.00, judging by what the few I've seen for sale have sold for. Would I get something better or as good now for £600.00? I'm not sure that I would. That's probably why you don't see so many for sale. Although I'm not a big Casino fan, I'm sure the same applies to that model. frenchie1281734003
I have had three Matsumoku made Casino`s in the past, but currently only have a Lennon 65 reissue, although I still have regular access to a Wine Red 83 Matsumoku model. I personally didn`t think there was that much difference between the Matty`s and the Terada models, and in some ways I actually prefer the Matsumoku Casino`s, they feel more organic to me. This particular one on ebay at present is unusual in that it carries the traditional 60`s sunburst, not often found on these. As to why mine were sold on, it was simply because the Lennon wasn`t getting played at all!!

[img']http://i680.photobucket.com/albums/vv162/jonnyg_photo/Riviera.jpg[/img] Hey Johnny I have a 1982 Aria Pro II TA-60 which has the same specs as your Riviera ( the same wood, three piece Maple neck, same electrics and shielded pots, and those wonderful MMK61 pickups) only in a different package These too are great guitars, and this one is going nowhere. clarkuss
The one on ebay at the moment has made me list four guitars for sale. One of the nicest things I've seen in a long time.
