Chris the Gent
I have noticed that the chrome on my Jack Casady bass is tarnishing really easily, i was wondering what you guys do to try and stop this? Is there any secret? or just have to rub it when you notice? -Chris.
midiman56
My suggestion: Wipe and wipe and wipe and wipe and wipe and wipe and wipe and wipe and wipe ... and when you get done with that ... polish! It's just like owning a black guitar, Chris: lovely to look at, but a magnet for fingerprints and dust! Jim
Chris the Gent
thanks Jim, just as i susspected, i was hoping for some kind of 'Magic Tarnish Repellant Stuff For Chrome Hardware On Guitars To Keep Them Nice And Shiney' stuff in a bottle, maybe should try and invent it, they'd make a fortune......and it has a catchy name........ Elias Graves
I would buy that. Unfortunately... Good old elbow grease is the answer. EG
midiman56
Actually, Chris ... give this stuff a try: http://www.jimdunlop.com/index.php?page=products/pip&id=219&pmh=products/maintenance We use it on all of our guitars at the store and it works really well. You can imagine how grungy our guitars get ... some times you fell like getting a putty knife to scrape off the crud (what do people have on their hands, anyway?). The stuff cleans 'em right up with a couple of "spritzes" ... wood, hardware, the whole darn thing! It's cheap too. WE go through it pretty quickly, but at home this bottle should last for months ... unless you have cruddy hands too! Jim
