unreal77
Where did you find that strap? My dad had the exact one but I think they dont produce those anymore. Is that an Ace?
charlie brown
Wow' date=' [b']CB's Casino sure is an odd shape[/b], the horns/cutaways look really shallow. Yeah, they are more pointed and a bit shallower angle, as were the Gibson ES-330's and ES-335-345's of that era. That started in '66 (not sure what month), and went into the Norlin Era, I believe. So, '65 was the last full year, that the Casino (or the Gibsons) had that deeper and somewhat rounder horn shape. I think the "waist" is a bit different, too. As mentioned...The angle, of the cutaway, is shallower, away from the neck, too...to allow more room, for your hand, on the '66, and on. Wiz-ski
Where did you find that strap? My dad had the exact one but I think they dont produce those anymore. Is that an Ace? Craziest ever = I got mine from my father! I'm not kidding. He used this strap with the 56 Gibson ES-225 he gave me. I don't know when he bought it, but it was back when he was in the Navy before I was born...late 60's, early 70's. I'll check the logo when I get home to see if it's indeed an Ace. charlie brown
love the color on the refin c.b. very unique' date=' and one of a kind.[/quote'] Thanks, Tom....I like it! I bought it used, in 1980, from a store in Seattle, sight unseen. Back then, Casino's weren't as plentiful (seemingly, anyway) as they are now, and finding one, was a lot more difficult. When it arrived, it was structurally sound, but the finish was a disasterous combination of various coats of "spay paint," in various colors and layers, over one another. I suppose the previous owner(s), were into "grunge" or some such, and thought it was "Cool?!" But, I knew a great Gibson repair/restoration fellow, and he took it down to the wood, and showed me then, that some of the base coat had soaked into the pores of the wood, and he was reluctant (to say the least) to go deeper, in sanding, etc. So, I opted for his suggestion, of using that as something that accentuated the grain, and to do the "Sunburst" over it. It was, really, the only way we could do it, at that point, as to go deeper, would have put us into the next laminate, which would have caused more problems, and/or had to be removed entirely. But, it turned out, really well (I think), especially considering what it looked like, when I got it. I only paid about $180 bucks, for the guitar, and another $200 (at that time) for the refinishing, I think it was. Back then, it wasn't a "Vintage" guitar...just a "Used" one! LOL! And, even if it had been "Vintage," with the disasterous paint job it had, prior to refinishing, it wouldn't have been any kind of "collectable," anyway. So...that's her story, after I got it, at least. Love your's, too...Tom. Amazing condition, as well! CB

clarkuss
Everyone should own a Casino. I'm in the hunt for a Natural one at the moment but might hold off and import a higher class model from the states. Here's mine: I really want to stick a Bigsby on the Peerless model and make it into a Georgie Casino
