brians356 Posted November 19, 2009 Posted November 19, 2009 I just bought an Elitist J-200. I've never owned or even played a J-200 before, what flavor of strings sound best on them? I don't assume the usual strings I use on my mahogany and rosewood dreads of various flavors. I might even try flatwounds which I like on archtops. Brian Adams Reno
Red 333 Posted November 19, 2009 Posted November 19, 2009 Congrats on you Elitist J200. I think you'll find it's an excellent guitar. I use Gibson J200 strings (in case you don't know, I don't mean to be smart, that's what they're actually called) or Gibson Masterbuilt Phosphor Bronze 12's on mine. The only difference between the two that I can tell is that the J200 strings have silk thread wrapped around the ball end, which protects the elaborate moustache bridge. Enjoy yours! Red 333
el capitan Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 The J200 being such a big box needs fairly hefty strings to drive it. I use Bluegrass gauge(56-12).I wouldn't use anything lighter than medium light or Martin light(54-12). A 52 bottom string is a waste of guitar & string!
jwalin Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 Can someone post a pic of their Elitist J-200? I didn't know they made one....are they still being made?
