tomyyy 0 Report post Posted November 24, 2009 I was asking myself ''why''! Why what? Why didn't I buy this Les Paul Junior 1957 edition, why didn't I buy this G-400 custom (cream color and gold hardware) with the Lyre vibrola? Since that, I regret everyday of my life my decision to not buy them:-({|= I tried those guitars last summer and was surprised about the quality and the sound. Then, I'm trying to find somewhere they still sell them. I guess that's an impossible mission... Do you know if Epiphone is planning to reissue these axes? Why do they not included them in their regular guitars? If you are the proud owner of a special run guitar. post it please! I want to see all what I missed! PS. I will surely buy the Casino with bigsby or the P93 Riviera. Wich one of them is the better choice? I heard that the P93 is poor quality... is it true? I will surely buy the Casino with bigsby or the P93 Riviera. Wich one of them is the better choice? I heard that the P93 is poor quality... is it true[/i]? Matter of opinion, on the quality. My P-93LE Riviera is, at it's price point, amazing! In fact, it's amazing at twice the price it's currently selling for. Having said that, it is NOT a "Gibson ES-335, 345, or 355!" But, for $499 w/o case, it's an amazing guitar. Some (not I) have complained about the tuners. The tuners on my P-93 are fine. Not "Grovers," but adequate to the task. Besides, like most of the hardware, they can be "upgraded," as needed/desired. Tuning issues, are more due to a poorly routed nut, than tuners. The Bigsby, if used as it was designed, is a fine vibrato. A "roller" bridge will stabilize tuning, even more. It's NOT for "Dive bombing," and never was. As to "lose parts," switches, pots, etc., I have had all that, on $6000 dollar Gibsons. Quite often, simply tightening those parts, is enough. "Lock Tite," will address the rest. Or, one can simply change out, the "Asian" parts, for Switchcraft, and be done with it. The pickups, are fine! But, again...IF they are not to one's likeing, you can certainly change those, as well. It seems like, to me, that Epi's are considered, by some, as more "inexpensive MOD platforms," rather than decent guitars in their own right. But, I own several Epiphones, as well as a Lot of Gibson's, from all eras! I have no problems, playing ANY of my Epiphones, "Stock!"...in any situation, in front of any people! I have done some things, to a couple of them, for my own requirements, or visual appeal....but, it was not due to any "fault" in quality, on the guitar(s). Bottom line...Play them both, pick whichever one suits you, and have a ball! The Casino, or the P-93 are both, excellent guitars, both in and out of their price ranges. Again, they are NOT "Gibson's!" But, they don't cost near what a ES-335 or ES-330, would. Plus, with P-93, you get the added tonal possibilities, of a semi, with 3 P-90's! That alone, can be a LOT of fun! Also, between those two choices, upper fret access, is much better, on the P-93! But, the Casino has a tone, all it's own!! That's probably the main reason people love them, as much as they do....myself included. (I own a refinished/restored vintage, 1966 Casino.) Either way, they're both excellent! brianh 395 Report post Posted November 24, 2009 I got my P93 with case for under $500 including shipping, and it's a lot of guitar for that price. I've had no complaints about the tuners, pickups, intonation, action, tone, etc., but a few minor complaints about the finish quality and fretboard dye. crust 175 Report post Posted November 24, 2009 The P93 I got buzzes like a chainsaw, even after adjusting the truss rod and the nut slots are too high for comfortable long time play. I will bring it to a tech at some point (I didn't send it back)
tomyyy 0 Report post Posted November 24, 2009 Thanks for your answers! I know that the Casino is a full hollow body. Does the one with bigsby has a central block (like the DOT)?
brianh 395 Report post Posted November 24, 2009 No, and it's not available anywhere in the states now anyway. If you can still get one in the UK, go for it. Member stickyfiddle has one for sale in Oxford: http://forums.epiphone.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=11746

Well there is one brand new in my local guitar shop. I guess there still have some in Canada! I don't want to missed this opportunity.

clarkuss 21 Report post Posted November 25, 2009 If it's any consolation I didn't like the 57 reissue. The finish was too heavy, the neck was too wide, fretboard was uncomfortable, p-100 wasn't a p-90 and the overall feel was pretty naff. I sold it pretty promptly.
