sledge57
As you know, I'm trying to sell my beloved Wildkat and some other auto related stuff. So a guy contacts me Friday about a carburetor I had listed for sale, naturally he has no cash, common problem in the Detroit area. What he does have is a 2 month old G&L ASAT Special in Blueburst with a G&L HSC (this is a G&L Tribute, swamp ash body, made "you know where" but has all their US hardware and electronics.) and wants to trade for the carb. So he comes over see the carb, I play the G&L and now he "USED" to have a G&L ASAT Special in Blueburst and I have a VERY PISSED OFF woman on my hands I try explaining to her it's a disease like alcohol or crack but she ain't buying it. I knew when he offered a trade I should have said No Way, but it's not in my nature............. Now I gotta sell 2 guitars, and yes the Kat will still be one of them, my Guild maybe the other don't know yet, I'm glad I'm working out of town this week, gives her time to cool down (I hope........) A pic from the web, I'll take a pic of mine after The Warden cools off..............
Caramello Koala
Nice, never let your woman make you feel like any less of a man for doing what you want, when you want. Hope all goes well with saving up that money!

bonzoboy
Tell your wife that I said it's OK you can keep all your guitars. My wife used to go snakey when I had a GAS or ***(Amp Stockpiling Syndrome)attack and nearly blew a gasket in Feb. when I came home with a natural Casino,a John Lennon 65 Casino and a J.L. Ej160E one day.All that blew over, she has given me a new guitar for the past 3 Christmases and is giving me another this year she also gave me a 50th Ann. Strat in 04 for my 50th B'day, she's a keeper.I guess she figures I had this condition long before we met and she knew what she was in for.BTW I was talking to a guy in a guitar store one day and his wife gave an ultimatum"The guitars or me" he said"I'm going to miss her." ----------------------------------------------------------
JefferySmith
Well, this was ironic, wasn't it? I guess the rationale that now you have even more to sell works for me. If you can pick up yet another guitar, that would be 3 that you can sell. Hey, I think you have something here!

If some of my car stuff would sell I might get away with only selling one guitar. I have so many toys to sell and no one to buy them
Guest
If you can pay your bills and have enough money to take her out occasionally or whatever, then you should be allowed to blow your surplus stuff on whatever you want. In this case no money even changed hands, your wife sounds like a drama queen. Just tell her the G&L has more resale value than the carb, and then tell her that it's your stuff and you'll do what you want with it, and there's other guys out there if she has a problem with that. sledge57
I'm trying to sell stuff to pay an unforeseen dentist bill, company cut salary and benefits this year, so the money is to go there. However like you said no $$ changed hands yet and I do feel I got the better deal. This guitar sells for about $600 new with HSC and I was asking $400 so it worked for me, just not her :- She's actually pretty understanding about this, she bought me my AC4 as a gift after I got rid of my Blues Jr and Vox VT-30 during the last $$ crunch, telling me this was a gift so I can't sell it.................. bluelake07
That G&L ASAT looks nice, if I was right-handed I don't think I could have refused that deal either. Detroit is in a bad way and selling items locally would be difficult...Ebay? The only other thing I can think of is taking some of your guitars to pawn shop, pay the dental bill and hopefully retrieve them later.
mbrooks0711
August 8th, 2010. That's the day I can buy another guitar. That was our deal when my wife let me go get my Ibanez Montage. I traded two "pawn-shop idiots sold me something worth 3x as much as what they wanted" guitars for it and had to drive 4 hours to buy it, but I have not regretted it yet. I totally understand the addiction thing. It has me playing pawn shop roulette about once a week now. That's the game where I check the local shops to see if they feel like being stupid. So far since august I've had to pass on a White Sheraton for $350, an American Strat for $500, a Hot Rod Deluxe for $330, and (this one killed me) a Epi LP Standard Honeyburst for $280. Hope your wife gets happier soon. right before I got married a married friend passed along this wisdom to me. "Happy Wife=Happy Life". Just tell yourself that over and over. Bender 4 Life
I'd say.........."good trade bro' " unless..........the carb was an origional Carter AFB (please say it wasn't) AFB's are going for INSANE prices down here...........depending on the cfm rating, they're $800 - $1000 and even MORE ! My boss at work is building a 340 X-head engine right now...........got the heads from a junkyard..........BOY did he get mad when I showed him the "thumbnail edge" crack between the valves on the #4 cyl. tartanbeastie
ha ha ha.. i can relate to that. recently my fiance and i went shopping for her birthday present, a fender accoustic bass, what we actually left the store with was a new gibson sg special and a fender blues junior amp for me.. funny how that happens. however the bass guitar was not in stock and had to be ordered but she will have it for her birthday
altair
HAAAAAAhahahaha!!!! Oh man that's classic... I wish I could give you advice, but if this happened to me I'd most likely be in the hospital... while the surgeons are carefully trying to remove the guitar from my pooper.
