hi there

while waiting for flights in january i stopped of to buy some magazines and i cant remember the title but it was a gear testing magazine for instruments & accessories. They had an article on the amps and they gave it a good review. i'm not sure about gigging with it but the editorial spoke generally in favour of it

A while back, I considered the Blackheart, and others, but with the intention of gutting the head and installing This Kit from Allen Amps . Then, found out that 5 watts of pure tube power is way too much for a small house. In the end just bought a full kit and built my own Hi Octane kit from ax.84.com . In the output, I deviated from the normal wiring and wired the output socket for a 6n1P vice the 12au7, which brings it down to about 1 watt, and through a single 12" celestion clone, it's more than I'll ever need. I can still control the gain independently from the output volume, allowing all the crunch from the driven tubes in the preamp to reach the output, where I can get all the drive I need...and more, without peeling the paint off the walls! I like it! :D/

thanks for posting that! (paruwi6172) i was at odds with the name "blackheart" i took excpetion to a lot of rondo's stuff based on the symbols used on their guitars. but then i still had passing thoughts on the amp. well, now the add prooves my original thought about what it truely represents. i have made my mind up not to go anywhere near a company who sells products, using adverts, on the basis of selling your soul to the devil. a few short years for an eternal damnation? no thanks. (religious concept met by the other side! don't get upset. i am just redressing the balance.)

i would point to a cheaper product here:

http://www.thomann.de/gb/harley_benton_ga5h.htm for £65

or maybe the amp i'll get later:

http://www.dolphinmusic.co.uk/product/40751-marshall-haze-15-15-watt-valve-head-.html/?utm_source=google&utm_medium=shopping&utm_campaign=base

a much, much better amp!

I have a Blackstar HT5 Head .A great little tube amp with a lot of features like speaker emulated phone socket and a master control on the overdrive .It doesnt actually model specific amps but lets you run the gamut of American to British amps Its awesome through 4x10's or just a single decent speaker cab and the phones mean you can actually use it at home .

just my two bobs worth.

hey there. I have a little giant head, and I would have to say with the one 12 cab that came with it, its not loud enough for jammin with your drummer, but ...... if you get a larger cab, ( i played it through my friends 4x12 marshall cab) it gets loud and awsome tone, so I guess if you had like a 2x12 or 4x10 or 4x12 cab with it you could get plenty loud

I agree with you Prolife... Blackheart certainly deprives itself from a part of the market just by the way they advertise it. The name and logo are enough to think twice about using it in a church band setting. The ad is just plain rediculous.

Anyway that's just my opinion.

About gigging with a 5W amp, I think it can be done but it also depends if you want to have a good clean while still being loud enough to be heard over the drums. You'll probably be wanting to either get a "bigger" amp or mic your 5W one, at some point.

I have the Bh5h, and used it once in a small venue (about 250 capacity). I used a small DI box (with emulated 4x12 cab) from behringer to run it to the board, but the acoustics were such that we kept that channel pretty low. My main amp blew a fuse the morning of, so I had to imrpovise. The 1x12 cab I was using worked out fine as a monitor. I certianly wouldn't recommend gigging with it without putting a microphone on it or running it to a board, but it's possible in a pinch to use it for a show.

Don't they use a SACRED HEART as their logo? That is a Christian symbol, is it an issue because it is being used by something other than a church?

How you feel about proctor and gamble? Do you use money? Ever had a Christmas tree? All have or are (in the case of the tree) pagan symbols.

Ohh boy, sorry fellas for diverting the discussion into (another?) religion thing. I shoulda kept my yap shut. But since you keep bringing that bit of the subject up, allow me to reply to some of the remarks :-k

I think the comparison with a sacred heart is a bit far-fetched, the shape maybe somewhat the same but it lacks every other characteristic that makes a sacred heart. Not that I'm an expert in those symbols, I'm not catholic. I don't mind christian symbols being used by other entities besides churches, it just gives me goosebumps when those symbols are turned "upside down" if you know what I mean.

I don't know anything about P&C other than they make all sorts of house-hold products, like detergents. Are you referring to their logo? I think people will see whatever they want to see. Yes of course I use money. But for me it's not be-all end-all, you know? I mean, some people are willing to do anything for money.

About the tree, personally I don't like the thing. It's a drag getting one in the house, makes a big mess, but... the wife and kids like it, so...

Back to what I said:

Blackheart certainly deprives itself from a part of the market just by the way they advertise it. The name and logo are enough to think twice about using it in a church band setting. The ad is just plain rediculous.

Yes, people will buy things dependant on their personal beliefs, no matter what those beliefs are. So Blackheart still doesn't reach a part of the market that other brands can, if I owned one I wouldn't take it to church because I'm certain that there will be comments made. Taking the logo off would indeed be an option :-

The ad is still completely rediculous.

Can we get back on topic now please?

Ok, they are alienating customer base by putting out such a horrible commercial. And not cause he deals with the devil.

First, I would think they would take the time to get a GOOD guitarist, and get them to have GOOD tone, to show off an amp. The tone in that commercial sounds just like my battery powered Johnson belt clip amp!

Also, that was pretty un-cool. Must be a German commercial or something. Makes me wanna NOT try one out, and I was thinking of testing one to have a little something for the bedroom.

sorry guys! me again. i have a prob with not letting go the redressing of the balance. i also won't buy:

1. a renault car. based on the advert of the mother happy for a daughter to be a porn star saying "ahh you have a new job." iirc.

2. the d&g (?) advert showing a woman basically going to have group sex. kinda voting with my feet here! i am offended by adverts like this!

anyway yeah a christmas tree is good for me! why? my father was born on the 23rd of december. he was scattered under a tree. also little known (?) is that the cross of jesus was a tree. an absolute accursed place for a jew to die. iirc.

"Acts 5

29 Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.

30 The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom ye slew and hanged on a tree."

How about back on Topic??? LOL!

I suggest a "Blues Junior!" Great little amp, that you can gig with,

in bars and small clubs, no problem at all! Or, it's little brother,

the "Pro Junior." Other's here, have had good things to say about

the smaller Epi tube amps, too. And, to the best of my knowledge,

there's no controversy, with their logos?!! ;>b ;>)
