capn_gaz
Hi guys, I'm just wondering what you guys with Casino's would recommend for pole piece heights on the P90s? I know there is a page on the Gibson site where the tone tips recommend a general pickup height to work from but the p90 as a whole cant be adjusted. Using those heights from the site I adjusted just the pole pieces but now even those the poles are closer to the strings, they have lost some "oomph" and bite. Where would you guys put the poles, and what kind on tunes do you play with those settings? I know getting a shim for the pickup is recommended to adding height to the casinos p90s, but living in England I am having a lot of trouble finding somewhere to buy from without paying a lot to import some. Any tips would be great, Regards, Gareth
peeper
If you have the pole pieces too close, the magnetic field will pull on your strings, sucking the life and tone right out. Use your ears! Setting up anything audio using your eyes is like tasting paint to find out what the color is.

New To Strats
Use a piece of foam from an old mouse-pad. But won't that decrease sustain?
peeper
no, but it might decrease the pickups resonance.
