Spyke1
Hi all, I love the looks of the 59 anniversary model of the Les Paul Standard that I've seen on this site and on others. And, it's a good price for a good playing, well-made instrument with a bit of historical mojo thrown into the mix. At least that's the way I see it! Has anyone compared a '59 model with a 'normal' LP Standard by Epiphone? I have a 1996 model in Honeyburst which is rather gorgeous and plays well, though I think the pups are a bit weak. In all other areas it shines. Would there be noticeable differences between it and the '59 model, and if so, where would they be? Sound quality? Finish quality? Material quality? Just looking for info. Thanks in advance, Ant
ken361
all above, I traded my old koren with a burstbucker this 59 sounds plays better. has a maple cap, better electronics and pups, set neck sounds better also
Spyke1
Thanks - you sound pretty sure! Would the same be true of the '69 Tribute model then too? I assumes it would.
lpplayer
I think the 59 is clearly a superior Epi Les Paul in every aspect. Maple cap (albeit with veneer), long tenon, Burstbuckers. I also like the vintage tuners.
