brianh
Having a couple of near-tweens in my house, I get bombarded with Nickelodeon shows on a regular basis. Josh Bell (Josh Peck) of the Drake and Josh show, at least in all the episodes I've had to endure, plays Gibson Les Pauls of one kind or another. On the Xmas special it appears to be a Les Paul "Black Beauty: Want one? No problem - they're only $6,351 USD: http://www2.gibson.com/Products/Electric-Guitars/Les-Paul/Gibson-Custom/1957-Les-Paul-Custom-3-PU-VOS.aspx The Epi version is only $1,332 USD: http://www2.gibson.com/Products/Electric-Guitars/Les-Paul/Epiphone/Les-Paul-Black-Beauty.aspx

I guess it's the Gibson one cos that guy has a contract with Gibson man why does it have to be so expensive sob sob looking to buy a Gibson or Epiphone and I think the black beauty looks great but dam 6k it's way over priced

Levish
I still don't really get it. what's the differences on a Gibson black beauty and an Epiphone black beauty? are Gibson made in USA and Epiphone in china or something?
gearhead
I still don't really get it.what's the differences on a Gibson black beauty and an Epiphone black beauty? are Gibson made in USA and Epiphone in china or something? For starters' date=' the Gibsons use better quality wood and hardware/electronics. I have a Epi G400, it feels and sounds alot like the Gibson SGs I've owned in the past, but the tone is a little "deeper" due to the wood that isn't as dense as the wood used on the Gibsons. But I, like you, can't afford the Gibsons, so I've opted for the next best thing! And the Epi's are made in China, indonesia among other places. I've seen some really sweet looking Gibson copies on "tootoomart.com" with really good prices but am afraid to put out the cash because if something goes wrong I'm not sure I could do anything about it. I think they are producing these "copies" at the plants that make the Epis, and they sure look nice, and if the quality is as good as the Epis I'm sure they're worth the money, but still afraid to try it. RobinTheHood
I've also seen Drake Bell play a variety of guitars from a Takamine acoustic to a Yamaha Pacifica on the older shows. But whenever he plays a "gig", its always a Gibby LP. But they ALWAYS tape off the logo on the headstock. What? Is it wrong that I like that show? brianh
I still don't really get it.what's the differences on a Gibson black beauty and an Epiphone black beauty? are Gibson made in USA and Epiphone in china or something? Authentic Gibson guitars are made in Nashville and Montana, USA. Epiphone is a subsidiary of Gibson that produces authorized copies of Gibson guitars such as Les Pauls, Lucilles, Firebirds, etc. fabricated in Asia. Epiphone-specific guitars such as the Casino, Riviera, Wilshire, Sheraton, Wildkat, etc. are also produced by Epiphone in Asia. Some high-end Epiphones use Gibson parts, but are built outside the USA. Epiphones are made all over the far east. Most folks agree that the best recent models were made in Korea. Some older and highly sought-after models were made in Japan. But they are largely made in mainland China now, with some made in Taiwan, Indonesia, and some even in the Czech Republic. There are also very realistic counterfeit Gibson and Epiphones being sold by websites in China and elsewhere - a frequent topic on this website.
