Guest
OK that has identified this p_up which might be a candidate to adorn the neck of my Levin, if it is good enough for Ry Cooder (just googled Teisco Goldfoil) should be good enough for me.......:-)....I only wish....... Thanks you guys.
peeper
I don't think thats the same pup. Just that they are both copies or "inspired by" the same pup. Notice the pole pieces are not located in the same place. Nor are the cutouts.
Guest
Could it be from a Gibson Melody Maker......that is what the guy claims......?
Guest
Tend to go with Musikron those poles are on the bottom of the pickup on the strat and in the centre on the one I am interested in above. Different pole position would make a hell of a difference surely. Though they both are obviously some kind of "goldfoil" if the ones with the poles to the edge of the pickup is the real deal. What is that pickup I may waste my money on. Send me a pedant (rather use the term scholar) I don't want to bid on that pickup until I know exactly what it is. It resembles that one on the Ry Cooder strat.....but aint the same. Jury is still out for me.

peeper
I don't claim to know what it is, and he may have pulled it out of a melody maker or whatever you said it came from, but it ain't a stock gibby pickup. It came from one of the myriad of Jap imports in the 70s I'm sure. Whats the asking price? $10?
