When did Epiphone first put a "E" on the scratch pad?

Those €'s are not meant to be permanent - maybe yours just fell off, or was taken off. I know Epiphone used them at least as far back as 1964 (on their electrics. Some of their acoustics, like my Hummingbird & EJ160-E never had one). The pickup on the Regent is attached to the end of the neck, so it doesn't touch the top of the guitar.

I know they've been on there at least since the early 1960's. See The Beatles' Casinos.

Some of the logos on the scratchpad are more permanent than other. The ones on two acoustics I bought were raised plastic affairs that interfered with my playing style. One fell off by itself after a little bit of playing. On another it just peeled off very easily. On my Sheraton the logo is a metallic tape attached with a stronger adhesive. It's much more permanent, and since it isn't raised, doesn't get in the way of my playing.

My FT145SB approx 1974 purchase new, has the painted on "e" epsilon fully intact after 30 very odd years. Most likely it remains durable due to paint chemistry, which changed, by order of the EPA, in the 80's or so, At one point in time the epsilon was a 3 dimensional stick on applique, most of which fell off after a time.
