That looks like a schecter???

With apologies. Found it on Google. Just went back to the source. The guy photo shopped the top of the headstock upside down. It's not real.

Funny thing though. It's from the My Les Paul forum and the thread is New Epiphone headstock shape contest!!

Anyways' date=' sorry I didn't check my source first. Lesson learned, spanking accepted.

Here's another mistake, but not mine!

Well' date=' simple the mandolin headstock is not. But I find it beautiful.

That would be their synthesized version of the Gibson scroll...if you're a mandolin

player, it could be considered beautiful ...#-o

What's with the "L5" flaming torch motif? Couldn't they find something more

appropriate or are they running out of ideas in that dept?

Sheesh! Talk about knockoffs!

Of course with that deep notch in the side, let's hope that their mandolins don't suffer

from the same fate if bumped at strategic points on the headstock. :-

It's the MM50, Epiphones version of the Gibson F5-L Mandolin. Not a knock off, just an Epi.

Thanks for the update. I would have thought they would have used the

historic Epiphone mandolins .like the 1933 Windsor Masterbuilt mandolin

with the asymmetrical part and MOP scrollwork emblem and re-issued it..

but I guess ya gotta make what sells in the mandolin world.

When they bought the rights to Epiphone back in '58, they have the options

to do just about anything they want.

And they want to create the world in their own image!![confused]

I had a chance to meet some mandolin players this past fall when they stayed at some of the cottages I cleaned. There was a big show they were doing one weekend here on Cape.

It was interesting to see all the different shapes/styles. Some ornate, some not. Really liked the pompadore style of this headstock though. Just different, adn different can be good.
