MaxHart85231281734137
hey guys, I need to do a little cleaning and before I make the drive out to the local guitar shop I thought I would ask a question that I have actually thought about for a while now just never done because i wasnt sure that is was safe for use on guitars.....well i have a bottle of Pledge, and a spray bottle of Murphys oil soap ( pure vegy oil ) wood cleaner.....will eather of these work as well as guitar polish? or are they not safe for gutiars? thanks felllas
deflepfan
Hello. I'd skip the Pledge, it can leave a residue you don't want. The Murphy's Oil Soap is USUALLY okay as it is gentle, especially if diluted well. Test on an area and see if it clouds up the finish. You can rub this clouding out, but it will mean more work. Best bet, just use a soft microfiber cloth and water until you can get your polish back. Sheila
peeper
I would not use either of those. Take Sheilas anvice here. And I know it sounds kinda gross, but saliva or damp breath works wonders too.
charlie brown
Maguiar's, auto polish/swirl reducer (non-silicon) for "Polish." Breath vapor, or a damp (not soaking wet) mirco-fiber cloth (as was already mentioned...thanks, Sheila), will clean it up, prior to polishing. peeper
I wonder if this recent influx of polishing posts has to do with all the shiny new Christmas guitars that have gotten a few hours on them?

Gordy01
I agree with Deflepfan and Muzikron. I clean all the guitars I set up and all I use is my breath, and if necessary a little spit. With a nice lint free cloth.
