JefferySmith
Since the conventional Riviera has been discontinued, you might want to consider a Sheraton. The 3 pickup P90 Riviera is available, and I like mine. But if you want two humbuckers, I'd consider a Sheraton.
brianh
Valensi Rivieras are still current: http://www.epiphone.com/default.asp?ProductID=274&CollectionID=1 Some of them are quite nice: http://forums.epiphone.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=12624 You could always buy a new VR and swap the PUPs out for Gibson or GFS humbuckers. And Sheraton IIs are really great guitars for the money: http://forums.epiphone.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=12867

Guest
http://www.thomann.de/gb/epiphone_riviera_limited_edtion_ch.htm £340 new, with mini humbuckers Thomann ?????? was the other one on ebay worth a £110 more......??????
mgrasso
The one on ebay is from the '90s with the humbuckers. The one from Thomann is from the '00s with the mini humbuckers. The Euro conversion to Dollars is about $540. IMHO that is a great price for a mini humbucker Riviera. I love mine and it is my best player (Electric) So I say go with the new. It will also come with a warrenty. Mark
Guest
Does the Riviera have a centre block like the Sheraton or is it hollow like the Casino?
mgrasso
I'm pretty sure it has a center block. I get no feedback like I do with my Casino. It's also a little heavier than the Casino. Since we are talking about it, I love showing it off.

Do you think the cost is acceptable ? That's about $781 USD. Not a good deal here in the states, but that price may reflect supply and demand in the UK. The mini humbucker version that Thomann's selling looks like a good deal, I wish those were available in the US. And yes, Rivieras have a center block, same as Dots, Sheratons, and Gibby ES-335.
