baxterbeats
Hi i am living abroad and have just come across a used epiphone supernova in natural finish! Looks like a factory job and the serial checks out but as far as i am aware epiphone never made a natural one of these, what kind of value do you think it is worth?? peeper
Isn't the supernova just a Sheraton with some guys name and a flag on it?
Hungrycat
Isn't the supernova just a Sheraton with some guys name and a flag on it? I thought it was a Riviera with a stop-tail, some guy's name and a flag on it.
jonnyg
I thought it was the Korean version of the Japanese version of the Riviera with a stop-tail, full size humbuckers, some guy's name and a flag on it. I'm gonna lie down now.
smips65
Does it have the split parrallelagram inlays on the fretboard? Can't see the necks on these usually, painted, but as suggested, a sheri neck would have 5 piece construction, don't know about the Riv. Should be able to see the back on the model your interested in, and make a determination from there. The flag model going for US $1200.00 The blue model going for US $750.
baxterbeats
definitely a supernova, split parallelograms on fret board, pearl truss rod cover with supernova written on it and pearl scratch plate, cross on headstock, pickup selector on right horn. I'm 99% sure it hasn't been re-finished

deflepfan
According to these, there were only four colors, The Union Jack, Manchester Blue, Cherry Red and Black. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Epiphone_Supernova http://jamoramaguitars.net/39/epiphone-supernova-noel-gallagher-electric-guitar/
baxterbeats
inside the f-hole the oval sticker reads...................... Model SUPER NOVA NA isn't the NA the correct Epiphone colour code for natural?
smokey
The Supernova was originally available in 4 colours - Cherry, Ebony, Vintage Sunburst and Blue. Over time the first 3 were dropped and the Union Jack was introduced which lasted until a couple of years ago. The Natural one is a new one on me, never heard or seen of one before.... and i've been looking!
baxterbeats
I thought the same, been digging real hard to try and find some background on it but nothing, but you can see it there in the flesh!!! Its no way a fake, spent some time scrutinizing over it after owning several korean epiphone semis to make sure and it does say NA as the colour code so it must be the real deal. So what we talking value wise? do you think its an investment?

Guest
Be careful that "Supernova" does not turn into a "Black Hole"
peeper
There is no Epiphone constructed this Century that is an "Investment" quality guitar. But if you can get it for cheap as a plyer, go ahead.

RenegadeMaster
Some guys name on it That is actually the most insulting thing I've ever read I understand you're from America And Oasis never meant to you Americans what they did to us Brits, you probably don't know who Noel Gallagher is and what Oasis did for music in the 90s, but at least show some respect even if you don't like them or know much about them, I mean just this week they've had a whole issue of NME dedicated to them, they played Knebworth, 250,000 people a night over two nights 3 Million people applied for a ticket, that is 1 in 20 Britons, that is just mind blowing to be fair For many people The Beatles of our generation

Guest
Some guys name on it I only have one guitar that "had" some guys name on it. I call it my Epiphone Emperor II........Previous owner took the name off the pickguard which I am happy about. Don't want some guys name on my guitars. Do want my guitars to have "similar" tone to certain music I love. Because the tunes I like to learn how to play are the tunes I love. Putting p-90 sounding Mean 90's in my Emperor hoping or a "T Bone" sort of sound I have also put this pickup on order for my Sherri. Soundfile: The neck pickup I will use on my Sheraton Guess whose tone I want to get close to on my Sherri......? Maybe when I get close to what I am after, I should get two TRC's engraved TBW for the Emperor and JLH for the Sherri.
Fantana
I've seen and played a Supernova in NA before in a guitar shop in Oxford, UK. This was way back in 1997, I remember the salesman was as confused as I was because the catalog didn't list NA as a colour option!

smips65
Baxter..... If you only have pics of it, keep researching, at least play it first (if possible). I would still (personally) try to find out what kind of neck construction it has. Others here would be able to expand on the virtues of one piece vs 5 piece constructed necks. You'll have to contact Gibson/Epi direct to find out about the number of natural finish products that were made.
